I sit in English with Lauren, tapping my fingers against the table nervously.
"So, Flo. How's your boyfriend?" She asks and my heart stops for a second.
"We broke up ages ago." I reply and Lauren frowns.
"Oh...Sorry."
"It's okay, Lauren. Really."
"So Flo, do you have a crush?" Lauren asks suddenly, after a long silence. I raise my eyebrows at her, just staring into her brown eyes.
Crap.
"What was that?" She asks furrowing her eyebrows together.
"Did I just say that out loud?" I ask, folding my arms and Lauren looks at me, her eyebrows now raised.
"Yeah, what happened? Do you not want to tell me who your crush is or...?" I raise my eyebrows and Lauren smirks at me as if she knows.
"Nah, It's just... I remembered, I have to pick up some orange juice and bread after school and I forgot my money." I reply pulling myself closer to the table, trying not to look at Lauren. I'm not lying...It was in my mind the whole time but I just don't want her to find out that I dream of her.
"Oh, I can come with you." She smiles and I rub the scratch under my eye.
"No, it's okay, Lauren. I'm just going to pick up some juice and some bread." I reply and she raises her eyebrows before leaning in closer to me.
"I will come." She states and at that moment, I feel like kissing her, but I know I can't.
I want to just press my nose against hers and then lean in for the kiss. I find her lips so lips so kissable. Her eyes...Are beautiful.
Lauren, I'm love with you. And all your little things...
"Okay, okay. I give in." I reply and she smiles at me, before showing me the work she's done so far.
---
"So then I told him, I ain't givin' you my heart again." I tell Lauren and she smiles.
"So wait, he actually thought you'd date him again?" Lauren asks and I nod.
"Yeah, he's not the smartest guy out th-..."
There's a bang and I feel my hand jerk down to Lauren's. I squeeze it tightly in fright and funnily enough she doesn't pull away.
"Sorry," I whisper and she looks down at her feet.
"Yeah um, awkward." She replies before some-what looking over my head. "Someone just tripped over a shopping trolley, don't worry." She adds, soothing me a little bit.
"Well, I've never had a boyfriend." Lauren states awkwardly and that just makes me want to kiss her.
"Well I-..." I stop myself. I don't want to say, 'well I want to be your first girlfriend.'
"Well I've never been kissed." I reply and she smiles.
"Me either."
"Twins." I laugh and she then approaches the juice.
"What flavour?"
"Orange. It's my favourite."
"Me too. I hate apple juice."
"Shut up! Me too!"
"I don't want to shut up." She frowns and I slap her on the back playfully.
My phone buzzes and I pull it out of my jean pocket just to see the label; 'Noodles' on who's texting me.
I know immediately it's my bestfriend, Mindi.
"Shit. Why now?" I whisper before Lauren pulls out her money to pay for our groceries.
"What is it?" She mutters and I raise my eyebrows at her.
"Just some noodle texting me." I reply and she laughs.
"You need to go?" She asks and I nod.
"Bye, I love you."
Shit.
Did I just tell her I love her?
---
"Shit Mindi. I told this girl I love her." I mutter and she rolls her eyes.
"So? It doesn't mean anything. She'll understand."
"Mindi! Have you forgotten about how gay I am! I'm gay! I'm bisexual! Seriously! Take this seriously!"
"Does she know your bisexual?"
"No."
"There you go." Mindi smiles and nods as if she's satisfied with herself.
"Shut up, I knew that." I reply and she laughs.
"Sit your ass down and calm...Calm...Calm..." She tells me, throwing her hands up in the air.
"Sorry, sorry...I was just freaked out." I reply and I stare at the chips she's eating. "Give me some of that."
"Careful, don't eat all of them. They are mine."
"Shut up."
"Calm down Flo. You're losing your sweetness."
"Roses have thorns, Mindi."
"Look Flo, calm down. Do some flirting with this girl and she'll catch on."
"I don't want her to catch on."
"Why the 'eff not?" Mindi jolts up, towering over me.
"Because, she's straight. Oh my god."
She turns away from me, flicking her blonde hair over her shoulders. She turns back to me, green eyes shimmering.
I can't help but laugh.
She's beautiful though but my heart belongs to Lauren Cimorelli.
---
"Damn man, she must be pretty." Mindi tells me over the phone and I flop down on my bed.
"She is. She's beautiful." I reply smiling. I can see through Lauren's window. It's open and she's dancing in her room, singing loudly to their song, 'Made In America'.
"Shit, how do I come out though?" We've decided that I should most probably tell my parents about my bisexual-ness.
"Just tell them. Sit them down on the couch with a glass of orange juice and some bread-..." She's making fun of me liking Lauren, especially since she payed for my juice and bread.
"Shush." I tell her and she laughs loudly.
There's a knock on my door and I jolt backwards, hanging up on Mindi.
