"Okay, so wait, let me get this straight. You come here, scare the shit out of us, and say you want to make a deal?"
The menace named Luke nods, looking between Michael and me. "That is correct." he says.
"Alright," Michael leans in closer. "And what deal of yours are you offering?"
"Let me stay here." Luke responds, shrugging like it's no big deal.
"Um," I scoff, giving him "you're joking right?" kind of look. "Let you stay here?"
"Yeah, what's in it for us?" Michael questions.
Luke smirks, his blue eyes averting from us as he scans the room. He exhales through his nose, and looks at Michael. "You'll see."
"You know, I hate that you're so secretive. Just tell us"
Luke chuckles, almost darkly. "I said you'll see, now didn't I?"
"Yeah, okay--"
"Great!" he chirps. "So it's a deal. You let me stay here, and I'll repay you in the end."
Wait. Who is he to just walk in here, scare the daylights out of us, and force a deal upon us? I don't even know how he's going to repay us, let alone why he wants to stay here.
"Wait, Luke. Why do you want to stay here? Don't you have your own, shitty place?" Michael asks.
"I did," Luke responds casually. "But I didn't like it. So I moved out."
Michael looks at him like he's stupid and crazy. "What didn't you like about it? The loneliness? Oh! Maybe perhaps the--"
I tap Michael's shoulder, and he looks at me. "Stop." I whisper.
Michael blinks a couple times, and sighs, sounding annoyed. "Fine."
"Fine?" Luke asks, his eyebrows raising in amusement.
"Yeah, fine. Just some rules I'd like to go over before we make this deal official." Michael tells him.
Honestly, I'm surprised Michael's just going to let Luke, who can be a real menace sometimes, stay with us. Oh well, I guess, right?
"Okay. What are they?" Luke asks, laughing softly as if Michael is joking. Oh, but he's not. I know he's not because I know him better than anyone.
"Alright," Michael gets up and walks over to the kitchen, opening the "junk drawer", grabbing the notepad I use to write my shopping lists on, accompanied with a pen. He walks back over, sits down next to me, and continues. "Rule number one, you sleep on the couch. Rule number two, don't be annoying. Rule number three--"
"Jesus, how many rules are you going to make?" Luke interrupts, and Michael glares at him.
"With you, a lot. Now can I continue?"
Luke smirks. "Go ahead."
Michael clears his throat. "Anyways, rule number three, don't be a slob or any of that."
"Is that all?"
"You wish it was," Michael pulls on a fake smile. "Those were just a few simple rules."
"Okay?"
"Okay. So. Now let's move onto the more important ones, and if you break any of these, the deal is off and I personally won't give a shit where you end up."
Michael is so serious, it's almost scary.
"Okay. What are they?"
Once again, Michael clears his throat. "So rule number four, stay away from Mikayla. Rule five, don't ever, and I mean ever touch her. Rule six, don't touch our daughter. You know, just, don't touch Mikayla or anything, and the same applies to Addilyn. Here, I wrote them down in case you're too stupid and forget."
