The invitation

Arthur Kirkland was the best detective in all of Europe. He was every woman's desire and every man's nightmare. If you were going to loiter the streets with crimes Detective Kirkland would find you. He was THAT good! He had short blonde hair and the most brightest green eyes you could ever see. He was 21 years of age at the time this story took place.

I'm not going to lie the man had charm. He could make so many women faint just by winking at them. Every man envied him. He always seemed to be the talk of the town and on everyone's gossip list. Young girls around the age of 8 or 9 would ask him if he was in a love affair with his assistant María. He usually shrugged off the question and continued his day. He didn't want people to know his true feelings about her.

María is a beautiful young Portuguese lady. Before the age of 16 she was a flat chested skinny young thing. Now at the age of 19 she has elegant curves and she may not be the skinniest of women but she's still thin. She has beautiful hazel eyes and a smile no one can top. She's quite nervous by herself but around Arthur she's a goofy ball of sunshine. She has a crush on Arthur and always wants to be close to him.

"Ma'am.." He said tipping his hat at a woman. She blushed a bit and nodded back. "Arthur!" Maria called running over to him. She seemed to be more focused on Arthur than her surroundings and ran straight into a tall Russian man, sending important documents scattering in the wind. "Many apologizes sir!" She said helping him gather the flying papers. The man smiled a cold smile. "It's fine." he said with his heavy Russian accent. Maria smiled back. "Maria!" Arthur smiled. "Oh Arthur I just met this man who..." she looked around and he was no where to be seen. "Odd.." Maria noted. "What?" Arthur asked. "N-nothing forget I said anything!" She said shrugging off the subject.

"This came in the mail today." Maria said handing him a neat envelope with a stamp on it. "From who?" he asked eyeing the envelope. "Lord Beilschmidt.." Maria said trying to pronounce his last name. "First name?" Arthur demanded. "Gilbert I believe." She said. "Ah marvelous!" Arthur said opening the letter carefully. "Says here we are invited to a dinner party at the Beilschmidt manor in D-Deutschland... Deutschland?" He looked up at Maria. "Germany.." She giggled. "Ah! Shall we be going then?" He asked. "W-What? So soon?" Maria stuttered. "It says to be going as soon as possible!" Arthur smiled. "A-Alright then..." Maria said giving in.
