As usual I was right

As usual I was right. I majorly regretted falling asleep on my couch the next morning. Letting out an uncomfortable grunt I made a bee line for the bathroom where I ran a hot shower in the hopes of loosening my sore and tight muscles from their unpleasant sleep last night. Stepping out I decided on a maroon hoodie and white jeans for my outfit today, paired with my boots and snow jacket. This morning was a much more pleasant walk to school then yesterday because I was actually able to enjoy the cold while listening to my music.

As I opened the school's front doors I kept my head down, wanting to avoid any eye contact in fear of running into Hunter. Everything was going smoothly until lunch time when I was walking to the cafeteria. I rounded the corner and an "ompf" sound escape my lips as I was knocked into the wall slightly.

"Watch where you're going little girl, would hate for you to get hurt."

I closed my eyes and winced when I realise who it was I just ran into. Peeking up under my lashes I was greeted by the terrifying sight of the three troublemakers and playboys of the school.

"Wait this is her?!" Beau asked while looking at me curiously with his green eyes.

I titled my head slightly to the side and gave the blonde a confused look.

"Oh man he wouldn't shut up yesterday about some chick that talked back to him on the street. He kept muttering something about a stupid little girl. Pleasure to meet you little girl." Laughed Axel while swinging an arm around my shoulders.

I frowned slightly at the brunette and shrugged his arm off my shoulder.

"I have a name." I grumbled, my annoyance leaking into my voice.

"Yeah I know who you are, you're Aubrey Willow. We have PE together." beamed Beau.

Huh, I never really noticed him in PE, mainly because I stick to the back of the class to not draw attention to myself.

"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go enjoy my lunch." I muttered while making a move to walk around the three huge figures.

A hand wrapped around my arm gently stopping me from walking any further.

"Sit with us" grinned Beau while linking his arm in one of mine.

"I'm sure Hunter won't mind" Axel said while copying Beau's action with my free arm.

"Right Hunter?" They said in unison, cheekily smirking over their shoulder at Hunter who had been pretty much silent this whole time.

"No. She's not welcome." he scoffed and pushed past us to enter the cafeteria.

"Don't listen to him, he's just a cranky old fart. We want to get to know you better" Axel said in what was meant to be a comforting way.

"Even we can't get under his skin that good! Teach us your ways oh wise one!" Beau stated dramatically while dropping down to one knee.

I politely pulled my arms free of the two that were hanging off them and politely shook my head.

"Thank-you but no thank-you. Enjoy your lunch though" I smiled gently and turned away from the cafeteria, deciding on eating in the library today to avoid any conflict.

I ignored their comical and dramatic lines they called out to me as I walked away, shaking my head with a slight smile on my face.

The end of the school day came around in a blur and I was currently in my room getting dressed to go to work at a small dinner fifteen minutes away from where I live. I pulled on my coat over my uniform and made my way out into the cold afternoon to go to work. It was a slow night as it began to lightly snow, which usually kept most people indoors. My neck and back still ached from my uncomfortable night's rest and I rolled my shoulders slightly in the hopes to loosen and relax them. The bell chimed and I made my way over to greet the customer as they took a seat in the corner booth.

"Good evening sir and welcome to Intermission, may I get you any drinks to start wi-" I smiled friendly and began to trail off when I realised who I was talking to.

"Well well well, what do we have here" he mused while I glared at him.

"What can I get you Hunter?" I gritted through my teeth.

"I'll start with a coke and can I get one of the Roadshow burgers with fries on the side?"

"Certainly sir, coming right up" I smiled sweetly while taking his menu from him.

"And make it quick short stack, I've got places to be" he called out from behind me.

Much to his enjoyment his meal was done in five minutes and was placed in front of him with his coke.

"Enjoy sir, if there is anything I can do let me know" I muttered while not making eye contact.

Roughly ten minutes later after being constantly called over for stupid things Hunter had finished eating and was at the register paying. I began to clear his table as he flirted with our cashier, her loud giggling echoing through the quiet diner.

"Aubrey and Sophie, you girls can go home early today. A snow storm is predicted to hit in a few hours" our manager called out from the back.

I let out a sigh of relief and took Hunter's dirty plate out the back and placed it in the large dishwasher before making my way to clock off with Sophie, the cashier Hunter was flirting with. As I called out a goodbye to my manager before walking out the door of the diner and into the cold night air. I walked past Hunter's fancy sport car and spotted him leaning up against the side with Sophie.

"So, my place or yours?" she flirted while running her hand down his coat clad chest.

I rolled my eyes and walked straight past the two and began my fifteen-minute walk home in the snow. My earbuds were in, filling my ears with wonderful music to distract me from the cold that was nipping away at my face and fingers ruthlessly. I heard the loud rev of an engine and turned to be faced once again with Hunter's car. He pulled up beside me as the driver window came down to reveal him.

"You must be stupider than you look to be walking in this" he mused.

I shot him a glare and silently cursed the warmth that was radiating out of his car but continued to walk, ignoring him.

"Get in"

"I'm sorry what?" I said coming to a complete stop.

"I said get in, it's late and cold and a storm is coming so just hurry up and get in before I change my mind" he grumbled.

Smiling faintly, I made my way around to the passenger's side and slid in, letting out a noise of appreciation for how warm and cozy it was. The car ride was silent any only took five minutes to reach my place that I gave him directions for. I quietly thanked him and got out of the car, being careful as I shut the door.

"Oi short stack, I'll make a deal if you don't tell anyone I gave you a lift home I won't tell them you work in the diner" he called out to me as I walked away from his car.

I turned to give him a small smile and responded with a head nod before running inside the warm building.
