If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Jase:
My landrover reved as I sped through the 3rd red traffic light; I couldn’t stop now. I couldn’t let things end this way. She wasn’t going to do this to me again. Kay would not keep running away - from me and not from the pain. I pulled up the handbrake as I swerved through the slow bend. I had to get to her - back when I was 13 I never knew the right words. Right now - right at this very instant. I knew those words.
FLASHBACK:
Vincent:
I pulled into the first car park I saw avaliable and slammed the door shut, I ran a hand through my hair searching for Jase’s Landrover. I saw it parked under the same tree it normally was. Even though I was the Captain of the Basketball team, Jase was more popular than me - he was the nicer of the two of us. He was the one to keep me out of trouble and keep me level headed.
I had two things I had to do this morning. I let out a sigh hoping I was doing the right thing; I saw Jase smiling causually as he was surrounded by his usual group of girl fans. That was something I didn’t understand - Jase hated all the spotlight attention but he was too polite to tell them blankly to piss off. I cringed as their piercing screeches reached my ears; I pushed past them all and Jase gave me the ‘nod’ in acknowledgement.
“Dude, we need to talk now.” I said pushing past his fan girls. He complied and followed me; I walked away from the carpark towards my gleaming black BMW sitting in the now hot sun. I suddenly regretted parking here but there was nothing I could do about it now; the spots were all already taken.
“What’s up?” Jase asked as we stood silently in front of my car; he had his usual friendly smile on his face - he had no idea did he? I closed my eyes for a moment and rubbed the bridge of my nose.
“I’m sorry.” I started. This was the first thing I needed to do. “I...fell out of line dude. I mean Kay is beautiful and everything you said she was -is. I may like her but you Jase, you love this girl. And I apologize for being the ass and not having your back in it.” I breathed, it was never easy admitting I was in the wrong.
“It’s cool.” Jase said quietly after a moment and I knew he was calcualting my words. Here comes the second thing. I walked up to him and swiftly punched him in the face making him fall to the ground as he touched his red cheek.
