not your shadow

Rowan and Alec got back to the institute, going in the back way. the two stayed quiet as they walked in.

they rushed to the training room checking to see if anyone was in there. Rowan gave the all clear signal and alec walked over to the weapon rack. as soon as it opened Alec grabbed a bow and a bunch of arrows. the two of them went over to a table . rowan jumped up to sit on top of it while Alec remained standing.

"your not going to grab your bow?" Alec question.

"no, i think im going to just use a seraph blade and my knifes for this one" Rowan said looking down at Alec. "hey, you okay?"

"your brothers been acting weird ever since clary arrived and if things go wrong later, her and that thing are going to get us killed" alec sighed as he grab his stele.

"i know, but we cant let him do it alone, besides i still have your back." Rowan gave him a smile. before alec could reply Hodge walk in.

"Alec, Rowan!" alec turned around and put the arrow he had down on the table, in attempt to hide what they were up too. "i didn't know you were here" Hodge stated as he took a sip from his mug.

"i-yeh-you know- we-i-" alec stuttered trying to come up with something but was interrupted by Hodge.

"don't tell me, i don't want to have to report you" Hodge said as he walked forwards.

"its just that- you know Clary-" alec begun to say but was cut off again.

"that girl is Valentine's daugh-" Hodge stopped hissing in pain due to the circle mark on his neck. "the monster's daughter," he corrected "there must be some reason why the roaches are coming out of the wood work again, right? leave you to it" Hodge said as he started to walk away.

"i-yeh-you know- we-i, real smooth" Rowan smirked, referring to how Alec couldn't get the words out.

"shut up Ro" Alec mumbled. "Hodge thank you" he called after him making Hodge turn.

"you remind me of me Alec. a loyal friend standing in the shadow of the chosen one" Hodge stated making Alec scoffed, "hey" Hodge put his hand behind Alec's neck to make him look at him. "don't make the same mistakes i did, look where it got me" he said finally, patting Alec's neck then walking away.

Rowan's phone went off after a couple minutes of silent well Alec finished with his arrows. "who is it?" Alec asked as Rowan looked at her phone.

"Izzy, she wants us to meet her at this location" Rowan said as she showed him the phone.

"lets go"

"Izzy we got your text" Alec called out as him and Rowan walked up a fight of stars. "where are we exactly?"

"its an old meat packer service entrance" Izzy smiled when she saw the two beside each other. "if we go back there we come up to the basement of the hotel dumort" Izzy said smugly as she pointed in the direction they needed to go. "perfect right? we distract the vamps, clary and jace have time to find Simon"

"okay" alec said bluntly.

"okay? it was hard work interrogating Meliorn to get this intel" Izzy sated looking at Alec.
