Clary freaking fray

Rowan marched into the training room with only her sports bra and leggings on. she grabbed a fighting pole and walked over to a dummy and started to whack it with everything she had. "whoa, who you pretending that is!" A voice asked, making Rowan look up to see Izzy standing there with a small smile.

"Clary freaking fray" Rowan said as she continued to whack the dummy. Izzy's smile soon faded away as she realized Rowan wasn't joking and she walk closer to the girl.

"Row, she froze it happens to all of us, besides you didn't even hear her out" Izzy said with sadness.

"wow Izzy thanks" Rowan snapped.

"Rowan I-"

" I don't want to hear it Izzy, so just leave me alone"

Izzy nodded slightly as she turned around and walked out of the training room. Rowan then resorted to practicing on her hand to hand dummy. Jace then walked into the room and grabbed a seraph blade and looked at Rowan.

"hey, wanna train with me?" he asked. the younger Wayland hesitated slightly before she nodded her head picking up a seraph blade and stood in front of her brother.

"hey look Row, thanks for saving me and I'm really sorry for not being a good Brother the past few days" Jace stated looking his sister in the eyes.

"its fine, I'm over it" Rowan lied giving her brother a small smile.

the to siblings kept training until they both had their seraph blades at each other's throat. the two of them put their blades down and Jace looked to his right and smiled. Rowan look to see what he was looking at and a small smile formed on her face. Maryse was standing there with a smile on her face while Izzy and Clary stood behind her, making Rowan glare at the red head.

"Maryse, it's good to see you" Jace greeted as he hugged his guardian. Maryse then turned to Rowan and smiled at her slightly.

"hello, Maryse" Rowan smiled as she hugged the woman back. "where's Max?" she asked as she looked round for him. Rowan and Max had always been close, they would always play pranks on the boys and Izzy.

"No Max, just mom with her hair on fire" Izzy spoke up as she walked to stand next to Jace, with Clary following her.

"I love how shadowhunters share. hidden brother in a secret country and a private portal" Clary said, Rowan was about to speak up when Alec entered the room.

"mother, welcome back. we didn't expect you" the older Lightwood said as he kiss his mom on the cheek.

"you should be prepared whether you expect me or not" Maryse replied in a stern tone.

"I am," Alec said "we are" he corrected looking at Rowan and Jace.

"we'll talk about the institute later. right now, we have bigger problem. the seelies have stopped communicating with the clave and wont explain why. my guess is that they're still upset that we asked them to send scouts to look for Valentine but no one in their realm will talk" Maryse informed the group as she walked around all of them, while giving them each an intense stare.

"I have seelie friends" Izzy spoke up.

"yes, I know about your friends. Isabelle, we stay separate from the downworld for good reasons. the wrong move, the wrong word. do you think there's such a thing as harmless rebellion? who knows what offends these creatures? maybe you told him- something they shouldn't know. Maybe you trod on one of their ridiculous customs without knowing it" Maryse scolded Izzy.

"wait, I don't understand, you're laying all this on Izzy for having a friend in the downworld?" Jace asked in disbelief.

"yeh, there's absolutely no harm with that" Rowan said backing her Parabatai up.

"when someone upsets the natural order, everything falls apart" Maryse said as she looked at Jace and Rowan.

"natural order? what are you saying?" Clary asked.

"I can help. I know how to talk to seelies" Izzy informed her mother.

"she's right, she could visit Meliorn and see what he knows. I'd go with her if you want" Alec suggested.

"I'd rather Jace goes along this time" Maryse said as she put her hand on Jace's shoulder and he furrowed his eyebrows. "Alec, Rowan you stay with the Fairchild. I want her under control, she's caused enough trouble already"

"maybe that's because I wasn't even a shadowhunter before a few days ago" Clary informed.

"and what an exciting few days it has been" Maryse states with humour in her voice as Clary just stared at the woman. "the clave counts on us Lightwoods to maintain order here"

"you don't need to tell me that. the mission is important to the clave, I prefer to be the one who goes with Isabelle" Alec said as Maryse let out a biter laugh.

"you are all so eager to do what you prefer. its time to face the truth. life is not about what you want to do, its about what must be done. I have given you your assignments, now carry them out. you and you with me now" Maryse ordered as she pointed at Jace and Izzy and walked away. Jace looked back at his sister with a pleading look.

Rowan was on her way to the heart of the institute when she saw Jace and Alec talking. she turned around to walk away before they could see her but unluckily for her Jace called her over. the girl sighed as she went over to the two boys.

"please just do me one favour and swear to me that you wont take your eyes off of Clary?" Jace asked the two making Rowan roll her eyes, the younger Wayland was about to say something but Jace let out a small laugh. "I cant believe I even asked you two that, you wont let me down" Jace said as he kissed Rowan on the forehead and brought Alec into a hug.
