Chapter Four: Party time...

Before we left Skylar's house, she gave me a pair of her shades and a white dress thingy that some people wear over their bikinis. Since I'm new to this whole thing, I just shrugged, and went with the flow. I have no idea of what I have gotten myself into. When we pulled up to the house of the party, we got out and walked around back.

There were a lot of people here, which just made my nervousness increase as we walked through the people. To others, I might have looked liked a body guard to Skylar because she was that short compared to me. We walked up to a table in the backyard where Miles, Jasper, another boy, and two girls were. One of the girls was Hunter's sister, Serenity.

"Hey guys," Skylar said and they all looked our way.

"Hey Sky. Who's your friend?" The other girl asked, gesturing to me. She looked very intimidating with brown hair and brown eyes. She was most likely over six feet tall with her height.

"I'm Amber."

"Oh. Cool. I'm Robyn," Robyn said. I smiled and nodded.

"Whoa Amber. You should wear more clothes like that. It suits you more than boy clothes," Jasper said with a smirk and I rolled my eyes.

"Maybe you should start wearing trash bags. Something that suits you almost as good as stupidity," I said and smiled as Jasper glared at me.

"Oh feisty. I like you already," Serenity said and Sky shook her head.

"I'm going to get a drink. Girls you wanna come?" She asked. I shook my head no, but the other girls said yes.

"Jasper you might wanna come too. You need some water after that burn," Robyn said and I smirked.

"Ha ha very funny," Jasper said, but still went with them. The other guy went too, leaving me all alone. With Miles. Now I wish I would have said yes. I started to look around at random things, trying to distract myself from the fact that my crush, is right across from me. That doesn't last long though.

"Hey," He simply said and I looked towards him. He smiles that dashing smile, and I shyly smile back.

"Hi," I replied back, surprised that I didn't stutter.

"I'm guessing you don't usually go to things like this seeing as you look lost," He said and I lightly blushed.

"Uh yeah, I don't get out much," I mumbled and pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear. "I'm usually too busy working or hanging out with my brother or friends." Or being a loner.

"I never knew you had a brother," Miles said, looking at me intensely.

"Yeah well, he's barely home, considering that he's in the military and I never really talk about him," I explained and he nodded.

"What do your parents do?" He asked and I looked down.

"My.... my parents..... my parents are dead," I whispered.

"Oh. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have asked. I didn't mean to make you sad," Miles said and reached around to grab my hand. I looked at our hands then up at him. He had a genuine smile on his face and I half smiled back.

"It's okay. You didn't know," I said and shifted from one foot to another - a nervous habit of mine. Soon, everyone else came back, and I let go of Miles hand.

"Here Amber," Skylar said, handing me a cup. "I got you a drink."

"What is it?" I asked, looking in the cup.
