A/N: Well, here's Chapter Three :))))
Chapter Three:
I watched as everyone left the room, to go suit up. I walked down the row of computers, realizing we were heading to Germany. Strange place to go when you're a wanna be god trying to take over Earth, but, hey, you gotta start some where right? I, obviously, would be here, out of troubles way. I was definitely unequipped for this.
Fury had other plans.
"Suit up Caruso, you're riding along." he said from the main platform to the right. I stare.
"Why?" I ask. He had 4 good men and woman out there already.
"Just in case we need some assistance." he said.
"From me? You're kidding." I say. I could turn invisible. Big whoop. I was definitely untrained for any kind of combat.
"I'm just as thrilled as you are. But with this, I want any good...freak, on deck." he said.
"So suit up." he says. With a sigh, I head back to my room.
I head to the closet. I choose black skinny jeans, black tight long sleeve, and black flats. Black was the easiest color for me to shift with. It was simple to make invisible. I pulled my hair back, watching the girl in the mirror. Her wild curls were tamed in a pony tail. Her eyes were grey and calculating. But only I could see the smallest, tiniest, most microscopic image of fear. Fear of what people would say if they ever figured out her secret.
There was a knock on the door. I put my hand on the bronze knob, not ready to open the door.
"Who is it?" I ask.
"Natasha." a woman's voice replied. I open the door, glad it wasn't Fury.
"Hey." I say with a nod. She wore her official Shield suit, dark in color, but I could see the emblem with the eagle on it.
"Hi." she said. Of all the people on this ship, she seemed like the most level headed. I've seen her file. I knew once upon a time, Shield wasn't a big fan of her either. I knew Hawkeye made a decision that wasn't Shields concerning her. I didn't see her as a bad guy.
"You're riding with me in the plane." she says. Nodding, I toss the brush on my bed, grabbed my watch and walked out, shutting the door behind me. I looped the leather into a band around my wrist as we walked.
"So, Loki's in Germany?" I ask, trying to make conversation as we reach the helipad.
"Yes. He's attending some event there. It's the heroes job to make sure he doesn't get away." she says. Something about the way she said it made me suspicious. And then I realize.
"Fury told you, didn't he?" I ask, staring ahead. I saw her nod.
"What exactly did he say?" I say, looking at her. She gives me an apologetic look.
"Only that you're a freak like the rest of us. And, while all of us have files, there's not even a foot note about you." she says. I sigh.
"I might as well tell you everything." I say, rubbing my forehead. It was time someone knew my story. And at least she would understand.
"I was young. Really young. Only 15. I didn't exactly have a stable home or family, nothing that other people have." I began. She waited for me to continue.
"I knew I was different. Not a good different. My mother died when I was young, my dad thought I belonged in the circus, basically. I ran away when I was 13. I roughed it on the street for a while. Then others found out about...what I could do. They figured they could use me." I say, remembering everything in vivid detail.
