The Other Girl

The Beginning of the Disaster

We all know a girl in our class, college, office etc. who, after getting too much attention from boys/men right after stepping into the college (or any other place) starts having an air around herself.
Well, this is what happened with Piyusha. Ever since she came into college, she was getting a lot of attention which she actually liked and pretended in front of others that she actually was tired of it. (Relateable?)

Ayush liked Piyusha. Piyusha, but, had developed some strong feelings for Shantanu.
Every now and then, she used to flirt casually with Shantanu. Shantanu being the innocent one told me exactly what was going on and i explained - "Haha. She is flirting!" He brushed it off.
Ayush, on the other hand was getting a little serious about her. He soon found out that Piyusha was having feelings for Shantanu. It kind of broke his heart. So he confronted Shantanu. Shantanu, being the 'bro next door' that you would always need said -" Bro, I have no feelings for her. Stay calm. I am just friends with her. I have zero intentions of being in a relationship as of now." Since everyone trusted Shan at that time, Ayush let it go and continued going after Piyusha.
Piyusha, being in love with Shan stopped paying too much of attention to Ayush. She rather talked to him whenever she felt like it and/ or whenever she wasn't talking to Shan. Ayush found out about this and started getting a little insecure and obsessive (any guy would). He started calling Shan and asking him all the time - "are you talking to her?/did you call her?/what is going on? Etc." He became too obsessive. On one hand he would call shan and on the other, Piyusha. Whenever Piyusha's phone went busy, he'd call Shan to find out whether his closest friend was cheating on him.

The obsession had gotten the best of him. Shantanu came to me to tell me all this and I adviced him -" Ayush is very close to you. If he is so bothered by all this, why do you keep talking to Piyusha? Just leave or make it clear to Ayush that you guys are just friends. If he doesn't understand and your friendship is too sacred to be ruined by this crap, let her go (unless you're too close to her)." (Which he wasn't, it being only one and a half month of her having joined the college)
But Shantanu was a little too ready with an excuse this time. He said- " I cannot stop talking to a friend because of Ayush's insecurities. In the past, because of him I have ruined a lot of friendships. I cannot ruin another."
I replied - " I understand that. No one is asking you to ruin your friendship. Just stay a little casual with her. Don't get too involved or you'll be caught up in a lot of drama." (And boy, was I right)
He replied - "Hmm, I will see."
