It's late and it's dark. There wasn't even the light of the moon and stars to give you your nightly reminder of hope. The sky was pitch black, it seemed more like you were staring into a black hole instead of a bedroom window. It's been so long since you've gone outside.
You pull your legs forward against your chest, careful to avoid any sort of pressure on your broken toes. You can't sleep.
Sangwoo isn't here. His out with his friends in a party. The same kind of parties that you used to attend. The same kind of parties where you first met him.
You could leave right now. Your toes may be broken but you can still walk on your heels and if that becomes too much, you could just crawl to safety. You'd find help and Sangwoo would be punished and sent to prison until he rots away.
No. You can't.
What about Bum?You knew how much Bum loved Sangwoo, he'd never betray him. What if Sangwoo comes early and catches you outside? You'd get punished, not only that Bum would get blamed and punished too for not stopping you. And if you do manage to escape would you get help in time? What if he gets punished because of you? What if he gets killed?
It'll be all your fault.
"(Y/N)?"
"Hey. Did I wake you up?"
"No."
Bum turned around to face you. "Can't sleep? Is it your eye again?"
You traced the wrapping that covered your left eye carefully, eyebrows forward as you recalled the sensation of fingers pulling out your eyeball that would wake you up in the middle of the night. "It's funny. I can't remember having my eyeball pulled out or even having my toes crushed." You glanced at Bum who was still wrapped in the blanket, nodding, signaling you to keep going. "I remember how cold the pillars felt and how Sangwoos finger felt when it went into my socket, but I can't remember why it happened or how it even ended. Does that make sense?"
The older man looked down nervously before looking back up at you. "Ive heard that some people will just block out any traumatic events. But sometimes their bodies will still remember it even though their mind doesn't."
"Yea, it's probably something like that." You flashed him a sincere warm smile at his comment. You noticed how his eyes seemed to widen in surprise for a split second and how he looked away before giving you a small shy smile back.
Bum became so important to you in such a short time. You weren't supposed to grow any sort of attachment to him, that was your original plan anyways. He was small, skinny, weak and blinded by the twisted love he felt for Sangwoo. In a way you did feel sorry for him, you felt the need to protect and care for him.
"You should get some sleep, Bum, it's getting late."
He hummed in response.
"What is it? Can't sleep?"
He let out another small hum in response. You let your legs slide gently down on the floor as you opened your arms wide. "Come here then." You flashed him a warm smile.
...
Sangwoo hummed to himself his favorite tune as he pulled out the house key from his pocket. It was colder tonight then usual. He left the party early, it was getting too boring too fast.
Before entering his home, he paused leaving the door wide open, scanning the entrance for any sort of clue of a possible escape or even an ambush. It seemed safe. He silently entered, taking off his shoes, ears open for any type of noise.
He was aware of the possibility of a surprise attack or even a escape, but he doubted it of actually happening.
It never hurts to be cautious though.Silently making his way to his bedroom he paused, a faint hum made its way to his ears. Pausing, his mind went blank. A old, familiar sensation filled him. Sudden flashes of the past swamped his mind. An indescribable feeling of warmth and protection appeared as he took a deep breath, relishing the moment before it all shattered. He shook his head, coming back to reality.
Sangwoo took a moment to recompose himself before coming closer to his room, the source of the noise. He peered over. (Y/N) sitting against the wall with Bum sleeping on your lap. Your fingers running through his hair carefully as you hummed a soft melody.
A sudden heavy sensation fell onto his chest as a painful grip formed. His face twisted in distraught as an unfamiliar emotion took over him.
Was this jealously?

Bum didn't end up playing a big role in this chapter like I originally planned. Oh well! It's been awhile since I last updated this story and I was very surprised to see how many people favorited, added to this to their list, commented on this since I last updated.
Thank you so much!! I'm glad people seem to enjoy my story!!
