About Last Night

One thing in my life that I'll never understand is why they created eight AM lectures? They must think everyone loves getting up at seven in the morning just to go sit in a room for an hour listening to someone talk about their experience in the field. NOT! I, for one, hate getting up early, especially after I've only had five hours of sleep.

I know what you might be thinking and if you are thinking I couldn't sleep because of what transpired with Jared then you are absolutely mistaken. I couldn't sleep because I was planning my next move to get Ben's attention.

Don't get me wrong, I did think about and realize Jared hickies might be my new favorite thing but the reminiscing only lasted for like fifteen minutes. He's my best friend and the thought of us being together intimately is just something I can't think about in detail right now.

So, I decided I would pretend like it never happened like we agreed. Hopefully Jared does too but I'll let him know it won't happen again if he brings it up - enough said.

When I was actually ready to get out of my bed I walked into the bathroom to do my daily routine: Look at myself in the mirror, frown at how disgusting I looked in all my morning glory, brush my teeth, shower, then today I decided to go with putting my hair in a tight ponytail. When I was done I settled for a tight fitted baby blue shirt, faded and ripped blue jeans and my all white Nikes.

I checked out the final look when it hit me that with everything that happened yesterday, I still forgot to check if my contacts delivered. Not soon after that thought there was a knock on the door to my bedroom.

"Come in." I observed the door until a head peeked through.

"Hey, I called yesterday because I went to the PO box and I believe this is for you." Laurina shook the mini package in her hand. "I know how much you hate your glasses." She held her hand out motioning for me to take it.

"I don't hate my glasses but thanks." I snorted, grabbing the contacts.

"Oh, I thought you mentioned that before. I probably just misheard you." She was talking more to herself then me and I pretended like she wasn't in my room anymore, hoping she would get the idea and leave.

She was right, I do hate my glasses and I've said it a ton. I just didn't want her getting the benefit of the doubt. It makes me seem like an immature brat but I couldn't help it. She is just trying to be like my mother and it wasn't going to work.

"Alright then, have a good day." She said before walking out my room.

"Yup." I uttered to myself and waited for the door to close before rushing to put my contacts in.

I spent a good twenty minutes trying to hide all the small marks covering my neck. Three coats of foundation finally did the trick and I smiled at my work in the mirror before hearing a horn honk. Knowing it was Jared, I grabbed my bag, car keys and cell phone rushing downstairs. I stopped in the kitchen and went to my dad who was reading the newspaper at the table, coffee in hand.

"Bye dad, love you." I said giving him a hug and kissing his cheek.

"See you later, sweetheart. Have a good day." He replied getting louder as I made my way to the front door.

Aside from three of his classes doing virtual lectures on Fridays, I was glad Jared's schedule this semester lined up with mine for the most part. We didn't have any classes together but depending on the day his first class started ten or fifteen minutes before or after mine so me catching a ride with him or vise versa was normal. He stayed in an off campus townhouse about a twenty-ish minutes walk from campus but always shut me down when I brought up the fact it's backtracking to give me rides since I lived a little furthered away from campus. I decided to commute my freshman year to save a little more but I'm so looking forward to staying in my own apartment off-but-near campus next semester.
