A full week has passed. A week where I have back stabbed my best friend, manipulated my other best friend, been blackmailed, kissed and punched. Definitely living life.
It's Monday and while I'm supposed to be finishing a paper in one of the library study rooms, I'm in a janitors closet with Ben.
I came here to finally tell him that I was done with the sneaking and hiding but I struggled to even get a word in before being hypnotized by his kisses.
He pulls back and whispers to me, "I miss you, Kate."
"Ben, I really have to go but we need to talk soon." I start to clear my head and focus on trying to make amends. I just need some more space between us to formulate a solid plan. After savoring the moment of our bodies connecting, I pull away. "Count to thirty before leaving." I walked out of the dark closet and bump straight into a wall.
"Watch where you-" Danny started but stopped when he noticed me. I tried to keep my head down but noticed him looking at the "Custodian" sign on the door.
He let out a wicked snort. "Let me guess... innocent little Benny is hiding in there?" I rolled my eyes as he moves closer to me.
Jerking my head up to face him I noticed his smirk. He's playing with my head. "I thought I made it clear you shouldn't talk to me."
"And I thought I made it clear that I tell you what to do- unless you want Halley to find out about your secret location and blossoming romance?" He leaned closer to me and I could feel his breath blow on my ear as he continued, "you would be finished, soft cheeks."
I snap, "what do you want from me?"
"Just to be your doting boyfriend. Is that too much to ask?"
He tangled his fingers through mine and led me to a table in the center of the library.
"How's it been my little diva?" Gage grinned at me as Danny motioned for me to sit beside him.
"Your little nothing, thank you very much." I let out a fake sigh, "We're having a little trouble in paradise."
I steal a glance at Danny but he was too focused on someone or something else to notice my mentioning of our relationship. Carter spoke before I could follow Danny's dazed eyes to the culprit.
"What have you done now, Dan?"
"Mind your business." Danny scuffed pulling out his phone.
They better be happy we were on the first floor which allows talking, because if this was any other floor we would've been escorted out for breathing a little too loud.
I roll my eyes and whip out my laptop. I can't believe Danny is still doing this whole fake dating thing. No. What am I saying? I can believe it, I just didn't understand the reasoning.
After feeling accomplished for typing a whole page and a half, I look at my phone.
Tonight! Dinner at my place! No excuses.
Halley. Still not paying attention to the conversations Danny and his crew have been having, I type my response.
Sure, can I bring someone?
Halley responded in under a minute.
Of course bring Danny. Still weird you two are together but Ben's going to be there so it's good for him to have a guy to talk to besides Jared.
You have no idea how little they will be talking. I send the thumbs up emoji.
A small part of me is excited to see her because I miss her so much but the rest of me is nervous because of all the bad scenarios I'm creating for this dinner.
