I'm so so sorry! I just got out of the hospital for being in a coma and I haven't been able to update! I'm better now tho. I'm covered in bruises and scabs tho.

The atmosphere we were enjoying while cooking quickly disappeared when the first family member stepped into our house. My father's first wife, Victoria, has never liked me or my mother. When it was discovered that my mother, a human, was a Dracula's mate, she refused to even acknowledge her. That lasted for about 50 years. When I popped out, she resented me. I wasn't her child and I had the bloodline of Dracula.

When she made it through the door and past a huge she practically forced my father into, she took one look at me and Briar and sneered in a I'm-so-much-better-than-everyone sort of way. With the fact my arm was around Briar, I could feel him bristle at the look.  Her view on me at this point is shaky. With a combination of her homophobic tendencies and the fact my boyfriend is a werewolf, I could already tell to an extent how this dinner was going to go for her.

Not well, that's for sure.

Her views are ' If you aren't going to repopulate the Dracula line, why should you even be here, let alone carry that title.' She always compares me to my brother, who has in the past had a boyfriend of his own!

I scoff at her look and focus on the door again. I smile at the next person to come through.

"The party has arrived!" My cousin, Madison, comes threw with her current arm candy, Danial. Madison has always been one of my favorites. She made my wings into retractable tools and even made them charm tats.

"Look at what the cat dragged in, or should I say dog?" I wiggle my eyebrows suggestively at Danial, the local dog shapeshifter. She flips me the bird before making her way to the kitchen/dinning room to join in on the conversation.

Briar taps my shoulder to get my attention. I look at him in confusion and he just points at the door again. I look at my had hits my face.

Everything just got a whole lot worse.

Why? One word. Evelyn.

Evelyn, my father's second and most stuck up wife, had just walked threw the door with her new husband and two children. Her daughter, Malia, and her son, Dominic, are both as stuck up as her. I snort.

That entire family has a 'high and mighty' complex to rival the size of Donald Trump's ego.

I give Briar a look.

This might be a little tougher than I thought.

"So, Andrew," I look up toward Evelyn hiding a grimace. "How has college been?"

"Well." I reply.

"That's it?" She said sarcastically and I flinch at her tone.

I grab Briar's hand under the table and rest our joint hands on my thigh for comfort. He doesn't object and just squeezes my hand while shoveling turkey into his mouth. I have to hide my snickers.

Evelyn snorts in disgust. I look at her when she starts to speak.

"Being gay I can tolerate." She starts and I can already tell where this is going. "And bringing your boyfriend to thanksgiving, sure why not. But I can't believe you fell for a god damned mutt!" I flinch at her tone.

"I have had it with the games Andrew! Your a Dracula and the last of the line! You need to get your head out of the clouds, find a nice girl, and have children!!" I squeeze Briar's had harder.

"Like that one girl, Hannah was it?" She asked looking right down the table at the girl in question.

Hannah looks at me and I look at her. For maybe five seconds it's completely quiet, until suddenly we both burst out into laughter.

Evelyn's face turns bright red. "And what's so funny?!"

"You..you.....honestly think..........me and Andrew!!" Hannah gets out between giggles. Her laughing makes me laugh even harder

Finally, we get our laugher under control, but that's not to say there wasn't a little giggle every now and then.

"One," I start, holding up my finger," Hannah has a mate. Two", I put up another finger," I'm gay. And three", the last finger came up with the rest," Briar is my boyfriend. He is also a werewolf. If you don't like that, you take your damn bigotry and leave." I noticed her kids about to speak up. "And take those two with you. Your boy toy has been the only respectable one out of the lot of you." I snap and send a smile toward the man on Evelyn's right. He returned the gesture with a smile of his own.

Evelyn looked ready to burst. All eyes swiveled toward my dad when he stood up.

"Evelyn," she looked at him like she was expecting him to save her."If you would calmly take your children and leave my house before my wife," Evelyn flinched at the tone he used, and I couldn't blame her. If he wasn't my father, I would be shitting my pants at the aura coming of of him. "escorts you herself by your ears." He finished with a glare.

I saw Evelyn's face of betrayal, but it quickly left her face when my mother started to stand up. Her and her children were out the door before anyone could say 'your dead meat'. I never knew my parents were so scary.

I look over at Briar, who is now digging into pumpkin and apple pie. I chuckle when he starts coughing before smacking him on the back to help him stop choking on the piece of crust that managed to get caught in his throat.

I keep hitting until something flies out of his throats and shoots right onto Victoria's plate. Of course, she didn't notice. So when she scooped up the piece of pie and plopped it in her mouth it only took about maybe 10 seconds to sink in, before everyone burst into laughter.

My parents, my friends, my aunts, my step moms and their children, everyone was laughing their ass off. It finally got to the point that Victoria let out a 'WHATS SI FUNNY?!" that everyone was almost on the floor, clutching at their stomachs in pain.

"Oh My God! That was great!" Hannah shouted before dissolving into laughter once again. Everyone nodded before controlling their laughter and going back to eat.

I look around the table, and smiled. Everyone I loved was here. The only thing that would make it better would have been if Victoria wasn't here, but you can't have everything.
