it was minghao's first day of high school and he dreaded it with his whole entire life. he had switched from wearing bright clothes to a strictly only dark colored wardrobe. he had spent all of inelementary and middle school to stop the bullying and this was his last attempt to stop it. but he knew they would only find another thing to bully him for once his wardrobe wasn't an "issue" anymore.

with his black hat on backwards and his headphones in, he walked onto campus, put his books in his locker and went to his first class. mentally giving himself a pep talk so that he could calm down. he had grown to have a bitch face but if only people knew what he was telling himself in his head, they would notice that he was just a scared boy.

in every classroom since middle school, he found himself sitting at the back, possibly near a window so whenever he would space out, he could just stare outside. he was easily distracted and he knew it, yet he didn't really do anything about it.

he spent his lunch walking around campus since he didn't really have an appetite at the time due to his nerves. from hall to hall, he saw so many new and old faces but he say an all to familiar group of faces when he entered b-hall.

"oh hey minghao," doyoon's voice rang as soon as minghao turned around to exit.

minghao stopped in his tracks and closed his eyes, breathing in deeply before opening them again and finding doyoon, and the boys who had bullied him since he was little, in front of him.

"honestly from how anti-social you are, i thought your parents would have had you homeschooled by now?" he questioned the smaller boy. unlike minghao, doyoon went through puberty at a young age causing him to grow almost a head above minghao and have a voice as deep as the ocean.

minghao stayed silent, looking at everyone in the group. they had all changed dramatically since they were children, the only thing that stayed the same was their hatred for minghao.

"aw still haven't found your voice, minghao you make it so easy for us to pick on you. i almost actually feel bad," but as soon as he finished his sentence he shoved minghao's tiny frame on the floor. "good thing i don't feel bad for doing that." and with those words, he walked off with his clique of uglies following behind.

he knew that everyone around him had seen what just happened. but they decided not to do anything and he didn't really blame them. he wasn't brave enough to defend himself so how could he be mad for others not doing it. all he did was pick himself up followed by his now shattered phone and brush off the dirt from his pants and start walking again.

he still had 3 more classes to attend and his whole mood was already turned completely shitty.

-

the moment he saw his mom waiting to pick him up, a smile found itself on his face again and he practically ran into the car. he found himself grabbing her head and planting a kiss on her cheek, not even caring who was watching.

"good day at school???" she asked immediately, kind of taken back by her son's behavior.

"eh I'm just happy i'm going home now," was all he could say before quietly sighing but looking over at his mom with a smile so she wouldn't think anything

-

as soon as he entered his room he flung his backpack on the floor, and threw himself on his bed. he was about to scream into his pillow but thought against it since be didn't want his mom to think anything.

for some reason he found himself walking to his closet and pulling out his junhui doll. he hadn't played with him in a long time but still had maintained it, keeping his hair perfect and his clothes crisp and clean.

he found himself staring at the painted details on the plastic but then flung it to the back of the closet. the doll landing with a thud.

but as soon as he did this he regretted it, quickly moving clothes and shoes out of the way to save junhui.

"i'm sorry jun, it's just nobody likes me," he felt kind of stupid for talking to a toy but it was better than nothing at this point.

"i don't want to be lonely anymore but friends are so hard to obtain," he sat down and placed the doll on his lap.

"thanks for keeping me company all these years, i appreciate it," he walked over to the closest again and carefully placed him down in his spot before walking over to his desk and signing all his teachers syllabi (okay i had to look up what the plural form of syllabus rip)
