"Look, Eden," my brother began confidently, "Ill figure this out, I promise." He hugged me once more, "I'll be back in a few hours with information and dinner."
I nodded happily, watching as he quickly moved to get out of the house and drive to his work. Gazing around the room, I noticed a collection of cameras positioned on the walls. Moving outside, I looked over their small backyard space. Anthony joined me, a smirk toying at his lips as he stood directly beside me, "It isn't much, but it's nice to have a place."
"Yeah," I said with a light sigh and turned to face him. I smiled cheekily and offered him my hand, "My name is Eden Hecox, your roommates little sister. It's nice to meet you."
"My name is Anthony Padilla," he smiled happily, taking my hand in his, "and the pleasure is all mine." He smiled at me for a moment and my eyes drifted away as he placed my hand back at my side, "Ian still doesn't know," he began, quickly glancing to meet my eyes, "I never thought I'd see you again."
"Look," I began quickly, "I'm not the same person I was when I was seventeen, Anthony." He nodded, but I continued, "You have to know that it isn't going to be anything like it was." His smile fell a bit, and I avoided his eyes, "Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you?"
"Of course," he said a bit hesitantly, "but that won't stop me from trying. Having you around makes everything better, and I don't want to lose you again."
"Then, what stopped you from trying ten years ago?" I asked him, smirking at him to make my point before turning away and entering the house.
"I don't want things to be weird between us, Eden," he said quickly, following me inside and shutting the door.
"It won't be," I said to him calmly, "but you can't act as if nothing happened. You can't act as if we are back together. We are two completely different people than we were ten years ago."
"I know," he said hesitantly, a slight smile pulled at my lips, "but, for the record," he added, "I'm really sorry for who I was ten years ago." I smiled, but deep down I knew that a relationship would never work with a guy who is best friends with my older brother, "Let me show you something." He called, moving towards his room and expecting me to follow him.
I stood in the doorway, waiting until he found what he was searching for and invited me to sit beside him on his bed, "Remember these?" He asked, flipping through old pictures of us from ten years ago.
I took a picture in my hand and smiled down at the image of him and me lying in the grass at the park, "This was after we fell down the hill," I glanced up to see him looking down at me with a smirk on his lips, "That was a great day." I said, looking into his deep brown eyes.
"Can I try something?" He asked as his eyes drifted to look at my lips. I hesitantly shook my head, but he placed his hand gently on my upper leg, saying softly, "Tell me when to stop."
Chills traveled down my spine as he inched closer. The old feelings surfaced in my mind as my eyes shut, words refused to form on my lips, allowing him to press his lips against mine for the first time in ten years. His hand moved to rest at my side and he pulled me deeper into the kiss for a short moment, sending chills up my spine.
I pulled away when I realized what I was doing, and he didn't stop me from walking towards the door, "Are you serious?" I asked him roughly, controlling my rage as I stood in the doorway, "You said that you understood what I was saying! Anthony, I don't even know you anymore, and if you're the guy you once were I don't want to know you!"
"Eden," he called calmly, bouncing to his feet and moving towards me. I stood my ground, glaring up at him, "You can't say you didn't feel it too."
