Ian and Lasercorn left the room, and I walked off the camera, approaching Anthony who had just entered, "What the hell was that about?" I asked him and he shrugged his shoulders, avoiding my eyes.
I moved to the bathroom to shower, ignoring all the weird tension that randomly appeared. I changed into my pajama pants and a big t-shirt, my hair wet on my shoulders as I exited the bathroom. When I entered the bunk bed room, I found Lasercorn in his bed turned to face away from me, "Hey," I called happily and moved towards him, placing my hand against his bare back, "What's wrong?" I asked him quietly, leaning over him to find his eyes closed, "Oh." I said hesitantly and backed away, brushing my hair before leaving him to sleep in peace.
I found Mari in the third floor living space and sat beside her on a bean bag chair, "They said that we are going to an ice rink tomorrow," she told me happily as the door to the bedrooms swung open and Lasercorn walked out.
"Hey, Lasercorn!" I called to him happily. He continued to walk down the stairs without acknowledging my existence.
"What was that?" Mari asked, watching me as my face fell.
"I don't know," I said hesitantly, "but I have a feeling that Ian is involved somehow."
"What's going on between you two?" Mari asked with a smirk, adding, "You know he has a son, right?"
I nodded, and she repeated her question, "Mari, please," I shrugged my shoulders, "This is not the place!" I stood up and grabbed her hand, pulling her onto her feet and dragging her down the stairs, moving into the second floor bathroom and locking the door.
"Tell me," she demanded gently, "I know about your little escape, if I didn't make that clear enough."
"I know," I said, my eyes widening, "Please, Mari, you can't let anything I tell you slip!"
There was a knock on the door, and I unlocked it, poking my head out to see Courtney and Olivia, "What are you guys doing in here?" She asked, welcoming herself and Olivia.
"Please," Mari begged, and I looked to Courtney and Olivia as they shut the door behind them, "We can make a pact!" Mari exclaimed in a whisper and I rolled my eyes playfully, locking the bathroom door.
"You can't tell anyone anything!" I told them as we all climbed to sit in the large bathtub, "Not even your best friend!" I glared at Olivia in reference to Noah, "None of the boys can know!"
"Of course, yeah, we got it." Courtney said, and Olivia agreed, "What are we talking about?"
"Can I tell them?" Mari asked eagerly and I nodded, slightly rolling my eyes at her excitement, "She has a thing for L-Corn!" She said happily in a whisper.
"Oh my gosh!" Courtney exclaimed, Olivia's jaw dropped, "Does he like you?" She asked quietly.
"He did," I said, "but I think Ian interfered somehow." Mari glanced at me and I continued, "He was perfectly fine before Ian came in screaming that they needed to talk."
"We are going to figure it out," Olivia said excitedly, "That's what friends are for, right?" We all smiled at one another.
"You know he has a son, right?" Courtney asked quietly and I nodded again, "and that his name isn't actually Lasercorn?" I nodded once more.
"We are gonna figure this out for you," Mari told me happily, "Now, what is our plan?" They erupted into a loud whispered conversation.
"Guys," I interrupted their planning, and they all seemed to freeze, turning to look at me, "I think we are missing part of the puzzle, and if we want to solve this, then y'all need to know the whole story."
"What do you mean?" Mari asked, watching as I thought long and hard for the words.
I took a deep breath, my lips forming the words in a low whisper, "I dated Anthony for two years while we were in high school, and Ian never knew." Their eyes got wide and I glanced down at my hands, "and it's been really awkward between us since I came back."
"What happened?" Courtney asked, her jaw dropped.
"It just ended," I shrugged, avoiding their eyes, "He gave up on trying, and told me to leave, so I did. I came to Tennessee for college like I had planned and he didn't talk to me until a year later." I was silent for a moment, and everyone moved to hug me, crowding the small space we sat in, "I told him that we couldn't be anything more than friends, but he kissed me before the games started. Now I'm here, and David is here, and I don't know what happened?"
"Ian's really protective over you," Mari said, "but it wouldn't be fair for him to sabotage your chances with someone."
"So," Courtney exclaimed quietly, "New plan!"
We walked out of the bathroom, receiving a few strange glances from the crew as we moved up the stairs to the room with bunk beds. It was almost three o'clock in the morning, and everyone else was already sleeping in their beds. I noticed Lasercorn was asleep facing my bed, and knelt down in front of him as Mari climbed to the top bunk, "Hey," I whispered, running my fingers gently through his orange hair for the first time. I smiled to myself and whispered his name, rubbing my thumb gently over his temple until he woke up, "Hey, sleepy-head, do you want to talk?" I asked him as his eyes met mine.
He gave me no response, but I watched his eyes fall before he turned to face away from me. Climbing into my bed, I turned my back to him and fell asleep, letting my worries escape me.
