I care more about others
Than I do myself.
I've always been that way.I've been tossed aside
For as long as I can remember.
Treated like I don't matter. So I came to the conclusion
That I don't matter.
But, everyone else does.So I go out of my way
To make sure everyone is okay.
Especially when I am not.And I don't care
If you have hurt me.
I will help you.I'd give away the shirt
Off my back.
All you have to do is ask.I care more about the people
Who are struggling to make it through
Than about my own struggles.I care more for the lady
Who sits at McDonald's
And asks for food.I care more for the old man
Who walks his old dog
On the same path everyday.I care more for the kids
Who plays basketball
With my old hoop.I care more for the refugees
Who just want a fresh start
But can't find it here.I care more for the people of colour
Who are judged by their skin
Before their character.I care more for my brothers and sisters
Who do don't share blood with me,
But, instead, a heart.I care more for fictional characters
And the struggles that
They must over come.I care more for the people
Who have no one else
To care for them.I care more about everyone
And everything
Than I do myself. To be fair,
That isn't hard to do.
About myself,
I do not care at all.
