yeri almost jumped in surprise and crashed her head on the top bunk bed.
"w-why did you ask?" she asked.
"i was just wondering. i wouldn't be surprised if you do, I used to like seungkwan," seulgi confessed.
"really?" yeri thought out loud and smiled embarrassedly when seulgi laughed. "why don't you like him anymore?"
"it's nothing complicated. we simply jut don't match, plus he likes someone else already," seulgi replied with no sign of disappointment in her voice. "i've already let go of him."
"you don't have to tell me if you do," she started again, putting the last piece of clothing in the wardrobe. "but just remember, don't be afraid to love."
"thank you," yeri said gradually before hesitating to speak her next few words. "can we... be friends?"
seulgi laughed again, "of course! i thought we were already friends the second you got on the car."
"y-yes we were," yeri smiled shyly. maybe seungkwan's friends really mean no harm.
"also, you don't have to wait long, because i know someone who's not afraid to do anything for you," she said, referring to soonyoung to see if seulgi could make a correct guess.
"who?" as expected, seulgi was clueless.
"you'll know soon!" yeri smiled slyly as seulgi pouted in return.
yeri was glad to make another friend, a friend like seulgi. she couldn't help but admire seulgi's kindness and maturity through her thinking and action.
seungkwan had planned a barbecue for the night, so he assigned groups for them to do separate jobs. everyone complained because he said his job is to look after the house which meant that he would just be slacking off, so he had to join irene and seokmin as the third wheel.
he also pushed soonyoung and yeri together so they could sort things out, seulgi and joy ended up in one group because seulgi was the only one who could deal with joy's extremely talkative personality.
yeri and soonyoung departed first to collect wood and wanted to get it done as soon as possible because she didn't want to deal with him anymore.
they were silent for the first ten minutes or so before soonyoung suddenly spoke, "i'm sorry."
"oh," that was all she said.
in all honestly, she might have forgave him the second he apologise to her through text. she hated the fact that she actually felt bad him for his affection towards seulgi, who had no idea whatsoever, despite of his arrogant personality and he hurtful words he had once said to her.
she only wanted a sincere apology... in face, not even that, she wanted to know why. why does he hate her? why does he have to bring her down to make himself feel better?
"i'm really sorry. i like seulgi a lot and i want her to be happy, even if i'm not the one who'll make her happy. when she had finally landed a finger on it, you appeared and it hurts me to see her being all dejected. do you understand?"
it was like he had read her mind, he spilled everything out, the reason why he was acting that way, pouring his heart out to her about a woman he had never dared to approach.
"i forgave you a long time ago," yeri replied simply.
"so we're friends now?" soonyoung asked.
"is that even a question? yes!" she threw a small stick at him and beamed as they high-fived awkwardly.
"we need to work on that!" they in unison and laughed.
she was glad, she saw the other side of soonyoung, the nice and playful side which she liked very much.
