The Obvious Fate [ON HOLD]

Chapter 4: The key

At first I feel like I'm about to pass out, I just look at my so called mom and stare at her with wide eyes and ask.

"What, how could you be my mom, my parents abandoned me when I was little, I have no parents!"

"Yes you do, I swear, I'm your mom." Emily says. After she says that I go out into full out absolte RAGE.

"What the hell! You abandoned me and left me in a shit life for 18 years, and you just expect me to just forgive you and let you back into my life?!" I say

"I did all those things to protect you, I-"

"HOW COULD YOU DO THOSE HORRIBLE THINGS TO PROTECT ME!" I say interrupting her.

"I am truly sorry Roslyn, I never intended for you to have a horrible life, but it was better than staying with me and being vulnerable to the government," Emily states, " I didn't want you to be killed."

"Well then where is my dad?" I ask

"Your already overwhelmed, I don't want to give you a heart attack." She responds

What could be so bad about my dad that would give me a heart attack, I think, but I agree with her, I should find all that out later once I deal with all of this.

I just sit there for around ten minutes crying, in shock, I don't know if I'm happy to see my mom or pissed off that it took her so long. Then 2 boys and one girl walk into the room. The first boy has blonde hair and hazel eyes, the second boy has dark brown hair and startling blue icy eyes that make me want to stare into them forever, the girl has blonde hair as well and brown eyes. They all walk closer and sit in the remaining seats around the table.

"Oh, they're here, okay Roslyn meet Jason," she says while pointing to the blonde haired boy," meet Joanna," she says while pointing to the blonde girl,"And meet Aaron, they're all regular hybrids." Emily says, pointing to the icy eyed boy.

"Nice to meet you," I say while smiling a little at all of them.

"So you have two options Roslyn, one is that you come with us and practice your powers, or you can stay here." Emily says

"Why do I have to practice, i thought I just had them." I ask

"Because you need the right practice, if you don't practice you could possibly die."Emily responds.

I don't know what I should choose. If I go with my mom I will have the life I have always wanted, but my other mom, Lilith, will again blame herself for my decision. I can't do that to her.

"I can't go with you, my adopted mom needs me, she is already corrupt enough, I can't do that to her." I respond.

"We also need you though, don't think of the government as people just trying to stop our existence, they want to breed us with demons and make a superior race for them to control and take over the human race," Emily says,"But if this is your decision, I will respect that, you at least deserve that from me, but I want someone to walk you home, just to be saf-."

"I'll go with her." Aaron says before Emily can finish.

"Okay." Emily says while getting up.

I get up as well and so does everyone else. Emily and I hug and I say my goodbyes to everyone and follow Aaron out of the Opera house.

On the way home Aaron tries to make small talk, but fails terribly.

"I guess we don't have much to talk about............. what's your favorite color?" He asks

"My favorite color!?" I say astounded "After all that hybrid stuff you want to know what my favorite color is!?"

"Yeah, why not," He answers ,"mine is green."

"Okay....... mine is aqua blue." I respond

"Ah, that IS a very beautiful color."

" Yeah." I say as we approach my small, old, and shabby looking house.

Today is Friday so my mom gets off work at 11:00 pm, so I guess she is inside waiting for me. WONDERFUL!

I invite Aaron in, and as we walk in we see blood sprayed along the walls. WHAT HAPPENED!!!!

"MOM! MOM! WHERE ARE YOU!" I yell running upstairs screaming. As I walk into my mom's forbidden room, I see her laying on the floor with a puddle of blood surrounding her. Aaron comes up from behind me, grabs my shoulder,and says "Oh my gosh, Roslyn I'm so sorry."

"I just can't believe she's dead." I say as I walk towards her corpse. I crouch down and hold her in my arms and sob as hard as I can.

I lay my head over her chest and stay there until Aaron comes over and hugs me tightly where I continue to sob into his chest.

"I know your pain, my parents died when I was 4, by the government, and it was the worst thing a child could see, but no matter how old you are it hurts just as bad, but we really need to go, the government has found you. We will protect you from now on, I promise." He says.

"But you don't know the pain of having your parents abandon you then have your only family die!!" I scream while still crying.

"I know, I'm so sorry, no one deserves that, come on it's not safe here anymore." I follow him out the door to wherever we are going, It didn't matter to me I was tired and just zoned out the whole way.
