I stretched feeling my joints pop.I felt tired my dull eyes looking out the window of the book store I worked at. This was easier than carrying heavy products, it was back breaking work. I had a hard life when was younger making me have two work two jobs overtime. I was the only daughter of my parents, a drunkard and drug addict, they worked to try and support all of us but they never bettered themselves instead they ended up loosing their jobs and I had to get a job to try and support the family.....it wasn't easy, whenever I made money they would take it for their own desires, I actually had to try and hide it. I was an intellgent student and was granted with scholarships but that would mean I would have to leave my family alone and without me there I knew they wouldn't survive so I sacrificed myself and dropped out of school to focus more on them. They ended up dying anyways it was their own undoing, my mother from drinking and father from drugs.....they left me alone to survive on my own. I couldn't do anything to help them, I knew the had a trauma that led them to the way they were, there eyes held so much pain.....it was something I could never understand , that's why I tried so hard for them.
. ....
I sighed and let a yawn escape my mouth. I wanted to close my eyes and never wake up, why was I still living for anyways? All I do Is work to try to get money to eat...that's all...I have no friends no family....nothing. My dull eyes moved from the window over to the door as the ding sounded off.

I saw a hooded figure walk in a purple jacket, and walked along the book aisle. He would come in every week and buy a book on puns, i never really talked to him, i never really cared to. he would always greet me and try to have small talk with me but I simply ignored him. Though this time i cant help but feel a bit curious about him. My eyes looked away from the stranger and I tapped my fingers along the counter of the cashing area trying not to snooze off, I was so tired. My boss had caught me sleeping on the job more than once and if she caught me again she would fire me. But yet I still ended up falling asleep my head resting on my arms.

I felt a flick on my head startling me awake then I heard a deep chuckle. I looked up to see the hooded stranger and furrowed my brows at him yet one propped up. he had his usual lazy eyes and a lazy smile he had a relaxing air about him.

I leaned up off my hand my brows still furrowed then relaxed them with an uninterested stare.

"Should you be sleeping on the job?" He questioned me with amusement in his voice

".....no, but when your tired your tired, anyways can I help you with something" I never really ever responded to him....this was a first

"I'm getting this book" he placed a book on the counter smiling a bit wider.

'Puns 101'

"Hmm, you like puns huh?" I said a little but not really interested....I already knew this

"I guess you can say that...there pretty puntatsic "

"....." I paused for a second then cracked a smile

"Heh,that's pretty good" you laughed a little

"I've got a skele-ton more where that came from"

You giggled a bit along with him, you had felt a sudden warmth and gave him a genuine smile.

You cashed the book.then handed it back to him in a brown paper bag.

"Well uh-"

"Sans" he said calmly

"Well It was sanstastic having this short talk" you joked and he laughed.

You handed him the book while he handed you the money you took the money but he held your hand before you could put it in the cash register.

"?"

"You know you should smile more often you look prettier instead of a holding a dead expression." He smiled and let your hand go

You looked at him in awe a little embarrassed with a small blush on your cheeks.

"Remember there's more to life, you just have to find what your looking for" he said then left

You shook off the blush and went back to a straight face as you watched him leave out the door. You saw the look he held in his eyes ......it was the same as your parents, but what could you do about it, you recognized it the day you saw him come in the store to buy a book......but his seems much deeper. You didn't really know what led you to have an actual conversation with him, usually you would just ignore him but....you didn't regret it, you actually enjoyed talking with him you just wish had done it sooner.

I smiled a little to myself , I couldn't wait to see him again the next week.

The next week came but he didn't

Then the another week passed but he still hadn't come

You felt a bit saddened by this you were disappointed

Another week came....two months passed and he hadnt come by the store , you were disappointed , he was the first person to actually make you feel like living...to feel alive.

You yawned looking out the window with bored eyes then the sudden ding of the door alerted you. You perked up a little hoping it was sans but when your eyes skimmed towards the body it was a skeleton but not the skeleton you were hoping for.

He was tall and walked up to you with a book in hand , a book you recognized.

"Oh Hello, I was hoping to return this book"

"Sure......um do you perhaps know someone by the name of sans?" You asked taking the book from him

"Oh...yes, he's...my brother" the skeleton looked away sadly

"Oh...well I was wondering if he was okay.....I mean he usually comes every week and I haven't seen him lately"

"........he...died last month" the figure said sadly

You stiffened and held the book tightly then lossened your grip on it

"Oh.....I...I'm sorry for your loss" you said giving the tall skeleton the money.

" did you know him well?" The skeleton questioned

"Oh....no......it was my first time speaking with him last month....he would often try to have a conversation with me..... He was the first one...." You said the last part quietly

"What was that?"

"Oh nothing....."

"......I.....uh may I ask how he died?"

The skeleton stiffened a bit

"........murder" he answered with a dark tone that didn't seem right on him

"I-"

"Im sorry but i must leave now, goodbye" he walked out the door leaving me there a little stunned but it soon went away.

"............its a shame....." I said with an empty and disappointed voice
