Travis's POV

Katelyn opens the hospital door and the sun blinds my eyes, so I squint. She reaches for my hand, so I take it, but I tense up when I feel something cold and hard on her hand. Surprised, I look down and see a ring around her ring finger. At first I'm hit with devastation until I realize that that's the ring I held in my own hand. That ring is mine. No, that ring is hers.
"Travis, are you alright?" Katelyn asks, placing her other hand on my shoulder. We're stopped in the middle of the doorway; I'm looking at the floor. "Travis...?"
"I never got to officially ask you..." I'm feeling light-headed and my stomach is quenching. When was the last time that I ate? I can't remember. Why is that even important? I can't stay focused.
"A-ask me what?" Katelyn's voice brings me back to reality. How do I answer? What do I say? I feel sicker and sicker the more I think. "Oh my Irene, Travis, you're not okay, I need to take you back."
"I'm f-fine," I murmur. Don't take me back, Katelyn. Don't take me back. But she's already guiding me through the doors of the hospital, getting the attention of the front desk. "Katelyn, please, I just feel a little light-headed." That's not true. I feel like I'm going to vomit and my stomach aches. Before I can comprehend what is happening, I'm being rushed to a hospital room and forced down onto the bed. Some nurses open my mouth to place a metal needle covered in plastic under my tongue to take my temperature. A loud beeping sound causes them to remove it.
"He doesn't have a fever," a nurse says to Katelyn, "I think he is just struggling to get back on his feet. Would you like to take an ambulance to get him home?"
"Katelyn, just call Dante," I rasp, "he'll drive us home." It's strange that I feel worse than when I first got here after the car had hit me. Katelyn looks slightly angry; most likely upset at the nurses for not doing anything and probably a bit mad at me for not wanting to use the ambulance. Not saying anything, she pulls out her phone to dial Dante's number. The nurses leave the room, keeping the door open, so cold air rushes in after them. I shiver.
"Hello?" Katelyn says into the phone. "Dante, come pick Travis and I up at the hospital." Silence. "Just come get us! I don't care!" Katelyn groans and without listening to what Dante replies on the other end, she hangs up. She looks like she is about to explode with anger. I sit up on the bed, leaning my back against the frame.
"Katelyn, calm do---"
"Calm?! CALM?!" Katelyn clenches her teeth, "Travis, I'm done trying to stay calm! I just want this to be over so we can go home and---"
"Marry me?" I interrupt her. Her icy blue eyes soften and melt, making my heart stop. "You found the ring. You're wearing it." Katelyn's mouth is open slightly and she's staring at me. I've never seen her look so innocent, so soft and full of pity.
"I want this to be over," she repeats softly.
"I've missed your lips."
"I've missed your pervy remarks."
"I've missed everything about you."
"You're going to make me cry," Katelyn rubs her eyes and begins to laugh. Her face looks so bright, and I smile with my mouth closed.
"Will you marry me?"
"I do."
"That doesn't answer the question," I smirk and I suddenly see that tears have started forming in her eyes, dripping from her lashes like a melting icicle.
"You're such a dork," she smiles, still laughing and crying. After that, Dante showed up and Katelyn and I got into the backseat of his car as he drove us home. We didn't say a word, for I was too busy kissing the tears off of her face. They tasted sweet and I longed for the flavor like medicine. I know it sounds cheesy, but I kissed her until I was unaware of my actions. That just made me even more lost when she kissed my lips. I've missed this. But now I'll live forever with her; just Katelyn and I. And that's all I need.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter! A brand new chapter will be out very soon!
