"Are you sure you don't need me to go with you?" Chase asked.

Today I have my two month checkup to see how the baby is doing.

"I'll be fine. Charlee is going with me, you go do what you have to."

"Alright. Love you."

"I love you too." He pecked my lips and left.

Shortly after Chase left, Charlee stopped by our place to pick me up.

"Ready?" she asked.

"Of course."

"I can't wait to see my niece or nephew."

"Charlee, you do realize this is your second cousin, right?"

"Yes, but you and I are basically sisters, so I'm calling it my niece or nephew."

"Ok, just don't confuse it when it gets older."

We got back from the appointment, and all I had the energy for was to lay in bed. I heard Chase walk in the door.

"Hey, how did the appointment go?" he asked Charlee.

"Chase, listen," she began.

"Is she ok?" he asked worried.

"Chase," Charlee took a deep breath. "She lost the baby."

"What?" I could hear the disappointment in his voice. It hurt me so much to hear the hurt he was feeling. My tears fell harder. He showed up at the doorway, then came over a wrapped me in a hug.

"I'm so sorry," I cried into his chest.

"Hey," he said looking at me. "This is not your fault."

"I was the one carrying the baby. Who else's fault could it be?"

"Did they say what caused it?"

"No. They don't think they'll ever know."

"We're gonna keep trying. We will have a baby, and I will hold your hand through everything, I swear."

**Few Months Later**

"Good mornin', darlin'," Chase said as I walked out into the kitchen. "How are you feeling?"

I've been down on myself for a while after the miscarriage, but Chase had been so supportive.

"I'd be better if I was pregnant right now."

"I know." He hugged me tight. "But we go to Daytona this weekend, you have to be excited about that."

"I'm excited to go to Florida, the race not so much."

"Don't tell me you're scared, you've never been scared of this race."

"I'm not scared, I just don't want the stress of you being two inches from other cars this weekend."

"I don't know what to tell you about that. But I can tell you that it'll be worth it because I'm gonna win for you...and our angel baby."

I started to cry and he held me close.

"Thank you for being so supportive," I sobbed. "I mean you should be moping and crying just as much as I am, but instead you're the strong one and hold me together. I don't know how you do it."

"Amy, I promised on our wedding day that I would help you through anything and everything. This isn't easy. It hurts like hell. But I'm gonna be strong for you because I know there will come a day where you'll have to be strong for me."

I held onto him a little tighter.

"This is gonna be a good weekend, I promise," he reassured me.

But we didn't know at that point that it wouldn't be a good weekend. And not just because Chase didn't win.
