Phil's POV
Sirens screamed out as I clutched on Dan's chest through his T-shirt. I couldn't believe he had just beaten up my Grandmother. She will absolutely murder me when she gets out of hospital, and that's not even an exaggeration.

Dan will protect me, thought. I'm old enough to look after mysel,f but sometimes I need Dan, because he's my hero.

"Hey boys, what are you're names?" Asked a police officer accusingly.
"I'm Dan, this is Phil. The b*tch's grandson." Dan replied. Dan.
"Mm, so what happened?" The officer narrowed his eyes at us. It was obvious he thought we were cereal killers or something. Though technically I am seeing  as Dan's cereal gets pretty much completely devoured every time I enter the kitchen.
"She burst in and was about to hurt Phil. She's been abusing Phil ever since he was a child, and he won't fight back, so I did. I saved him because I love him. I beat her up because she beat up Phil." Dan said firmly. He wasn't going to give up.
"Right, right. So, what exactly did she do to... Phil?"
That was when I decided to chip in. I wasn't going sit back and watch Dan do all the verbal labour without me. Besides, it was my problem. "She...hits me, and calls me names. Bad names." I looked down at the floor, trying my best to keep my emotions to myself. I felt Dan rest his arm on my back, comforting me. I remembered the first time he did it, and a strong feeling of love rushed through me, flushing my cheeks.

I had Dan. And that was all I needed.
