Chapter One: Welcome Back
[Brandy]
I slowly made my way out the door and over in my car. It’s been two days since Conrad left, and today I have to sit through eight hours of nonsense that is the first day of school. Ten minutes later I found myself sitting in my parked car in the student parking lot. I smiled slightly as I watched Kendall pull into the parking spot next to me. I grabbed my bag and made my way over to Ivey.
“Hey.” I said softly as she stepped out of his car.
“Hey, have you heard from Conrad?” She asked me, I shook my head no as we made our way inside.
“Hopefully, I will hear something tonight.” I told her softly as we made our way inside the school so we could pick up our class list. Five minutes later Ivey, Lacey, Kendall, and I were comparing our classes. Lacey and I had first period Trig together, then all four of us had second period choir. Ivey and I had the same third period history class; with the new teacher, Smith. Kendall and I had fourth period anatomy. Then the four of us had fifth period English, along with sixth period lunch, then I was by myself in my teaching class.
“Isn’t y’all’s history teacher, the new one?” Kendall asked us. We nodded and made our way over to our lockers.
“I hear he’s super cute.” Lacey smiled happily, I rolled my eyes playfully at her. Lacey Rose Miller; is the girl that loves scandalous situations; like falling in love with a teacher. The bell rang singling for first period to start.
“Let’s get to Trig, Lace.” I said with a soft laugh as I grabbed her arm and dragged her along with me.
First and second period went by quicker than I thought it would. Soon; I found myself sitting in my history class. I looked over to Ivey and sighed.
“I can’t believe, you haven’t heard from him.” Ivey sighed along with me. I shook my head and grabbed my notebook and pen. I turned to a clean page and began to start writing.
Dear Conrad,
Well, I’m sitting in my history class on the first day of my senior year, and I’m just thinking of you.
I started writing, but was quickly interrupted by the late bell ringing. I closed my notebook and listened to the door shut behind the teacher.
“Good morning students, I’m Mr. Smith, you’re history teacher.” I would know that voice anywhere. Conrad. Conrad Benjamin Smith. Mr. Smith. I heard Ivey gasp when she saw that Conrad was standing in the front of the class room. I was so glad we picked the seats in the back row, he hadn’t seen me yet. He started taking roll and he was going to come across my name in no time.
“Blake Alexander?”
“Here,”
“Grace Ambers?”
“Here,”
“Brandy Benfield?” I heard his voice shift slightly.
“Here,” I said softly, I watched as his eyes scanned the students searching for me. “Here,” I called out louder with my hand in the air. I watched his blue embers quickly grabbed my hazel ones. They brighten slightly as he continued down the list of names. I was now going to be the scandalous situation that I predicted Lacey would end up in.
“Ivey Sapp?” Conrad called the last name on the list and looked up at her.
“Here,” She said politely with a soft smile his way, she loved Conrad like a brother and now she knew that she was going to have to keep a deep dark secret from everyone and I hated that I had to put her through that. Conrad looked over at me and smiled and went to pass out the class rules and procedures. The fifty minute class went by fast; and my mind was racing, he was back and he was now my history teacher. Ivey looked over to me as we slowly gathered our stuff; she knew that I wanted to be the last one out of the class room to see if Conrad had anything to say to me. As we walked up to the front row of the desks to wait for the other students make their way out of the room. I smiled as we walked pass his desk and he grabbed my arm. Ivey quickly made her way out the door.
“Come back after school.” Conrad smiled as he let go of my arm. I looked down at it and knew that it was going to be tingling for the rest of the day. I looked up at him and nodded, all I wanted to do was to jump in his arms and kiss his lips. I heard the door open and saw George Harper walk in and sit down.
“Yes sir, Mr. Smith.” I said with formality as I made out of the room.
“Hey Bran,” George called as I walked pass him.
“Hi George,” I waved as I made my way to my anatomy class with Kendall.
