Chapter Three: Hurt Feelings and Broken Hearts
[Brandy]
The rest of the week went by fairly quickly, nothing much happening in my classes besides history. Conrad and I stole looks at each other throughout the class period, thankfully not getting caught. It was finally Friday and I had been invited to the back to school bash beach party that was being held later tonight and to my luck it was being held close to Conrad’s beach house.
I smiled at Conrad as I passed him in the hallway and walked into his classroom. I was hoping that the smile came off flirty to him, but to everyone else, it came off just as a normal smile to a teacher. Panic hasn’t really set in that he was my teacher and I was his student and what we had was not supposed to be happening. I loved him too much to even think of us not being together. I smiled at Chrissy, she had been one of my closes friends since middle school, but she wasn’t around this summer to find out about Conrad, and now there was no way in hell that I could tell her, even if she did promise to keep our secret, I wouldn’t dare it.
She smiled and waved me over to her. “Hey, are you going to be at the beach party tonight?” She asked me as I stood smiling down at her.
I nodded and pushed my bag higher on my shoulder. “Yes I am, are you?” I asked her as the late bell rang, signaling for class to begin.
“Yeah, we should hang and catch up.” She told me. I smiled nodding, trying to head to my seat before Conrad came in and got on to me for not being in my seat when the bell rang; that was his number one rule on his rule list.
“Miss. Benfield, get to your seat the bell has rung, you know the rules.” He said sternly as he walked through the door shutting it behind him. I spun on my heel and looked up at him and noticed the seriousness in his eyes as he pointed to my seat next to Ivey. I nodded and quickly made my way there.
“Sorry sir,” I said softly as I sat down in my chair, he had never been that stern with me and if he had, he was just joking around. I looked up at his face after I placed my notebook on my desk. He looked up at me and shook his head, with an annoyed looked to his bright blue embers. He was seriously mad at me, and it truly hurt my feelings and broke my heart. I wondered what had gotten into him, but I didn’t voice my emotions, for if I did our secret might have been reveled. I looked over at Ivey, she turned to look at me and she threw her hands a little in the air.
“Class; are you ready for your first project of the year?” He asked us, his mood totally shifting and a beautiful smile graced his face. The class answered him with unison moans and groans of protest. I included, History might have been my best subject, but I did not want to have to worry about a project right now, it was the end of the first week of school and doing a project wasn’t on the top of my list of things to do. “Come on cut the moaning and groaning; this is going to be a fun project. Everyone will be an assigned a group and we are going to be conducting a trail.” Conrad told us happily. Well that was better than I had in mind for a project. Suddenly a beautiful woman barged into the room. She had to be in her mid – twenties; she had dark brown wavy hair and light blue eyes. Her bright white teeth, made her pale pink lip gloss shine, she must had been the other ‘hot’ new history teacher this year.
“I’m so sorry Conrad, I didn’t know you had a class this period, I just need to ask you a question about the lesson plans.”She smiled a little flirty smile as she ever so slightly batted her eyelashes at him. I looked over to Conrad and watched him smile a little at her, which for some reason broke my heart a little.
