Chapter Six: Surprise
“Do you want me to come over tonight and spend the night with you?” I asked Ivey as we sat in the lunchroom of the school. She looked up at me and sighed, her face was still swollen from the tears she had shed earlier, her eyes were a bright brown and red mixed in with the white. She shook her head once.
“No, I really need to talk to my parents.” She told me as she pushed her plate away. I looked down at it and noticed that she picked at it and only ate a few things off of it. I nodded and looked back up towards her.
“Okay, how do you think they’ll take it?” I asked her as I looked over her shoulder and noticed Conrad walking through the lunch line. He was looking through the crowd as he paid for his food. I smiled softly and casted my eyes back to Ivey.
“I hope they take it alright.” She sighed, looking down at the table and I saw a single tear fall from her eyes and fall onto the table. I pulled my chair over to her and wrapped my arms around her.
“Come on, Ivey. It will be alright, trust me. Your parents will still love you, they will help and they will love their grandbaby.” I told her as the bell rang to end lunch. “Come on, one more period.” I told her softly as I helped her up and pulled her along. I hated seeing her this way.
“Thanks Bran, thank you for being there for me.” She told me as she arms wound around my body as she squeezed me. I nodded and smiled.
“If you need me, I’ll be over at Conrad’s tonight; he just doesn’t know it yet. I want to surprise him.” I told her happily trying to cheer her up at little. She smiled and rolled her eyes a little.
“You’re crazy, but I love you.” She smiled softly at me. I winked playfully at her.
“Just call me okay?” I called over my shoulder as I turned to head out of the school to head to the elementary school for my teaching class.
“Okay.”
I quickly pulled into Conrad’s drive right next to his black 1966 fastback mustang. I smiled happily he was home, and he had no idea I was coming. I looked at the clock it read 3 o’clock on the dot. I opened my door and I got out locking the doors behind me as I shut it and made my way to the truck. I opened the trunk and pulled out my book bag and my sleepover bag. I quickly jogged to the door and rang the door bell. I grinned as I listened to his footsteps grow closer to the door. I heard the handle turn and I watched as the door open and there he stood. He smiled happily at me, his blue eyes shining happily.
“Surprise,” I smiled.
“What are you doing here?” He asked me as he held the door open for me to walk through. I walked in and sat my stuff down next to the door. I watched as he shut the door then turn toward me. I smiled up at him and jumped into his arms. I buried my face into his neck and placed a kiss there. I felt him sigh happily as his body relaxed more. His arms held tight onto my body as I moved to look at him. He smiled up at me and kissed my nose.
“I wanted to see you, actually see you. Oh and I was hoping I could the stay the night?” I asked him as I stared into his beautiful blue embers. His eyes shined brighter and his smile grew, as his lips collided with mine. I kissed him back happily; he finally sat me down on my feet again.
“Good, because I missed you, and I’m glad you surprised, and I’m happy it’s a Friday.” He smiled down at me.
“Me too, I missed you. I missed hugging you, kissing you, spending the night, touching you. I just missed everything about you, okay?” I told him as I grabbed up my book bag and walked over to the living room.
“Hey! Hey! I missed everything about you too sweetheart.” He called happily as came after me and picked me up around the waist and carried me into the living room. He grabbed my book bag out of my hand and threw me playfully onto the couch. I laughed happily as I watched him climb onto the couch and hover over me. He smiled down at me and kissed my lips.
“I missed this,” He told me as he kissed me again. “And this,” He added as ran his fingers through my hair and his hand moved down my arms. “And you.” He ended as he kissed me again.
I laughed happily as his lips hover over me, “Stop, I need to get my homework done so we can have more time later.” I told him with a smile. He nodded and climbed from around me and let me get up from the couch. I smiled over at him as rubbed my hand down his face as I picked up my book bag and pulled out my anatomy binder and book and sat it on the coffee table in front of me and opened them and started on it.
I was on my last vocabulary word, when Conrad’s lips attached to my cheek. I smiled as I felt him sit down next me; he had been grading papers as I worked on my homework. I looked over at him, and smiled at him. He smiled back at me; I looked back down to my words finished my last word. I closed my book and stuffed it back into my book. I looked over at the clock and it read 5 o’clock, I was starving and tired. I turned back to Conrad and noticed him watching me. I smiled up at him and leaned my head on his shoulder.
“I love you.” He sighed kissing the top of my head.
“I love you, more.” I told him wrapping my arms around his waist and kissing his arm, his t shirt was soft against my lips. I felt his hand move down my face as he made me look up at him. I smiled happily up at him and pecked his lips.
