KAIA'S POV

"We can go to the queen and tell her what we've received. Them she can tell us out powers and how to uses them." I told Nadia with a spark in my usually dull voice.

Every mermaid has powers that are unique to us. No mermaid has the same power as another mermaid. If you go to the queen and ask her what your powers are, she'll tell you, but only if you are over eighteen in mer-years, same as human years, or if there is an emergency. This situation definitely fits the bill.

"Yes! Kaia, You're brilliant!" Nadia grabbed my shoulders tight and smiled with her pearly white  teeth. I grabbed Nadia's hand and headed toward the kingdom.

  KAIA'S POV
We passed other merl-folk, who seemed completely calm, that means the US government know about us. I just hope they test on us for life, not kill us.
Nadia had fear painted on her pale, flawless face.
As we approached the castle, we stopped to gaze at the many towers standing tall on the ocean floor. They were decorated with seashells in every shade of pink and orange. They glittered in the drops of sunlight peaking from the surface.
The castle was guarded by a pearlescent gate that we must enter to see the queen, but even then, we would have to find out where she is. We met the queen when we came here. The queen found out we used to be humans and wanted to meet us. Mermaids existed long before the spell did, since the beginning of time. There is even a mermaid in a bible story.
I gripped Nadia's hand tightly and swum toward the pearly gates as a man in silver armor stopped us with his muscular arm.
"You cannot enter!" He ordered with a strong British accent. He must be from the English Channel.
" Why not?" I asked.
"The queen does not take any visitors on Mondays." He swam away, as if he was shunning us. And how did he know we wanted to see the queen? Mind-reading must be his power.

NADIA'S POV
Kaia looked upset, knowing she would never find her power in the time she needed it. I need to help my best friend. Panicking, I looked for a way. I scanned the crowd of people moving in front of my eyes. There wasn't anyone that could help her. Except a map of a castle that a little mermaid was holding. I knew exactly what I needed to do.

I swam to a dolphin and grabbed onto its fin. I looked into its eyes. The dolphin started swimming in the small mermaids direction, like it knew what I wanted and agreed to do it. I straddled my body onto it and rode on the sweet dolphin like my horses back on land. It swam into the child and knocked the map of the castle right out of her hands. She cried out of her big amber eyes and wept. My heart stopped and felt the pain of the little mer, but this was an emergency. I swam the few feet down to the very bottom quickly so the little mer wouldn't catch me. I switched my gaze to Kaia, and swam to her, trying to not to bump into anyone as I was fast with my tail.
I saw Kaia's sparkly blue and pink tail and her strawberry blonde hair hanging from her drooped head. My hand grabbed her shoulder. Her hair swept over her shoulder as she frowned at me. Her frown lifted into a smile when she saw what I held in my hand. I knew she caught onto my idea.
"Nadia!" She grabbed onto my shoulders. "You're a genius!"
"Hell yeah I am!"
I pulled Kaia closer as I whispered how we could get into the castle.

KAIA'S POV

I scanned the map for any windows we could swim into. To my disbelief, there was one. There was a window at the very top floor of the east tower out of the four towers in each of the cardinal directions.

I grabbed Nadia's hand and swam upwards.

Gravity gripped us to the floor, but we resisted. Nadia grunted, she isn't used to swimming against gravity's strong grip against of us.

We approached the window depicted on the map, but it was closed and locked shut.

I thought we were out of luck. Until I remembered what I gave to Nadia. An Axe.
