NADIAS POV
He swam us to our first class, English. The room was warm and inviting with posters with cheesy motivational quotes scattered on the wall.
All eyes focus on me and Kaia, following our every move. A middle aged mer with light red hair made into a high bun, small, narrow glasses and a tight, short dress shook our hands and introduced us to the class.
"Class, these are the princesses of the Hawaiian kingdom! We are so excited to have them attend Skye Prep!
River smiled at Kaia and eyed the chair next to him. She sat down and I found a seat behind her. Beams of golden light came trough the window partially covered up by thin white blinds. Sunshine reminded me of land, my family. I don't miss them much, but I sometimes wonder if they looked for me. Maybe they're still looking, but I seriously doubt that. Ever since I was in high school, they started to resent me. Why? I don't know. Maybe it had to do with the fact I was going out on my own. I didn't want to be a scientist like my parents, or maybe for another reason that hasn't came to mind. When I see light, I still wonder if we look at the same sun. For all I know this could be a whole new world, the old world is long gone and astray from existence. I hope it is. Nothing but that can erase the memories tattooed in my head.
As I was drifting into my own thoughts, class continued around me. Murmurs of voices echoed across the class. I noticed my sister looking at River with hearts in her eyes. Although I'm not a mind reader, I know a crush when I see one. Her stare was barely broken by the loud bell. The sound wasn't a beep, but an actual bell someone rang like at a church. I struggled to stand as the floor vibrated as the bell was ringing.
