I've got plenty of time. Tell me." I told him. And the more I did, the more foolish I felt. Telling a random old man who could be a serial killer or retired war veteran or rapist or retired CIA agent or SERIAL KILLER what happened in school today. Chloe Bourgeois, hitting new lows since she popped out of her mother's uterus.
"...and that's basically it. I'm sorry, this isn't something you need to hear, I'm bothering you-" he placed a hand on my shoulder and my voice reduced to a soft whimper. I placed my head in my hands, sighing when I felt myself burning up. Yep, new lows. I just want to curl up in a blanket, dammit, I can't do this anymore.
"Child, why were you so cruel to that young man?" I shook my head sadly, letting my hair down just to make sure it covered my face. What I would do to have one person on my side. That used to be Sabrina but now that she was gone, a part of me wanted to feel that support from this stranger. Someone to tell me that I was amazing, the best thing since sliced bread; if my parents wouldn't give it to me, I would make everyone else adore me. Even if I had to do it by making them feel worthless. I felt a shudder run down my spine at my own thoughts and shook my head, letting out a fake laugh.
"He was a bit cruel to me, too, don't you think? I don't blame you, though. Cause everyone knows, Chloe's the only villain here. And Chloe never does anything right." He shook his head, about to reply but she held up a hand, muttering, "I wish I was Ladybug."
"What was that last part, my child?" I had grown irritated of him calling me that but to add the 'my' part threw me off the edge. I shot him a glare, forgetting about the fact that he was probably a hundred years old for a moment and shot him a glare.
"Could you please stop calling me that? My own father wouldn't even acknowledge that fact and here you are calling a random stranger your child." He smiled calmly, making me intensify my glare but direct it to the ground instead. My anger vanished almost as soon as it came and I looked away.
"One at a time, my child. Now, why did you say you wished to be Ladybug?"
"Well, because I do. Simple and short-"
"But unclear all the same."
"I just... she's amazing. She's so nice and brave and amazing. Everyone likes her, I mean... she's... her. Who wouldn't? She helps people." I sighed.
"Well, why can't you?" I laughed.
"Me? A superhero? I can't even strike a match by myself. You expect me to do that?"
"I think you can handle it. The reason you like her my daughter is not because you want to be her but because you want her virtues. Strong, determined, kind, courageous. She's something special. Just like you. You want that. Am I correct, Chloe?"
"I... I guess so. Too bad I'll never be a superhero."
"Don't be so sure of that, my child."
"I wouldn't make a good one anyway. I'm a terrible person. I hurt people. Everyone hates me. Even Adrikins. And Sabrina."
"You will learn-"
"What if I don't learn? What are we talking about? It's never. Going. To happen. Who would be crazy enough to make me a superhero."
"I would. If I had the power of course." Which he does ;)
"That's nice of you to say."
"On to your father."
"We have a... complicated relationship. He's the Mayor so it's not his fault he doesn't have time to even wish his daughter a happy birthday."
"It's your birthday? Wonderful."
