Laf's

I stand in shock as Herc's heavy boots trail away from the dorm. What just happened? He said that he liked me, I kissed him, then he ran away. Hold on for a second, I kissed him? Is that why?

I do the first thing that comes to mind. I text John.

Frenchman: I'm pretty sure this is John. I'm Laf. If Hercules is with you, can you give me someone else's number and tell them to come to my dorm? And if he is not with you, please bring Alex with you to my dorm. I think something bad happened, and I the cause of it.

I send it and sit on my bed, trying to wrap my head around what happened. After a few minutes, the door flies open. John and Alex. For some reason, John's hair moves around, revealing something green. A turtle pecks its head out of all of the hair? What?

John gives me a small smile and pulls the turtle out of the hair. "His name is Tobillo. We were playing with him before we ran over here," he explains. Alex nods in agreement. They ran over here to make sure I was alright? My friends in France wouldn't do that without me asking. Everyone here is so nice to me. Especially Hercules.... Back to the problem at hand.

Confession time, here's what I got. I take a deep breath, and explain that happened. "Hercules said he likes me, I might have kissed him and then he ran off. So yeah, I did fuck up a lot," I say. It sounds so terrible when put that way.

The two look at each other. It's a look of 'Oh man, I have to give him the lesson with the birds and the bees.' I am so confused. As you can tell, I can read people pretty well, but they don't understand what I mean when I read people perfectly. Underneath all of the secrets they hide I mean.

Alex is the first to crack the mood. He starts laughing. Laughing! John follows suit. I tilt my head in confusion. It's a bad habit I have. Tobillo wiggles his way out of John's arms and crawls around on the floor.

"He ran because he thinks he hurt you. Herc does not think very highly of himself, thought he hurt you or pressed you into kissing him and ran away so he wouldn't snap. He ran because he likes you a lot," Alex explains. The pieces begin to fall into place as I recall how gingerly and hesitant he was before he ran.

I thank the two men for their advice. John grabs Tobillo, Alexander's hand on his waist, and they walk out. I sit in silence as the rain slowly slides down the window outside. It's peaceful, but lonely. Suddenly, the door flies open.

"I''m sorry-" he tries to say, tripping over his words. Taking a deep breath, I kiss him for the third time today.
