Jared woke with a start as Cassy started shaking. He tried waking her up. Nothing. She didn't respond. He started worrying. Out of desperation her called for Clarissa. Footsteps ran to their room. Cassy's parents as well as Jared's were there in a matter of seconds. Jace put the light on.
"What's wrong with her?" Asked Clarissa in a panic.
"I don't know. I woke up with her shaking. I can't wake her up," said Jared anxiously.
"So you don't know what caused it?" Asked Clarissa.
"Not a clue," answered Jared.
Clarissa turned Cassy in her side. She continued shaking violently. Clarissa pleaded for her daughter to wake up. There was no response. No sign of her stopping her seizure either.
"Go call Throine," begged Clarissa.
Nick ran downstairs and was soon joined by Throine.
"What is the matter with her?" Asked Throine.
"We don't know," said Clarissa, " she won't stop shaking."
"Let me have a look. I will see what I can do to help," said Throine as he sat next to Clarissa. He placed his hands on either side of Cassy's face. Warm light emerged from them. Cassy stilled. He searched her thoughts. And let go.
"Will she be okay?" Asked Clarissa.
"That is up to her. She has Seen her future. Astriel is a part of it. She will live to see Cassy grow into a woman and...She will see Cassy and Jared's child," said Throine.
"Child?" Asked Jared.
"A daughter. She is very beautiful," said Throine.
"But her Visions are not set in stone," said Clarissa.
"No they are not," said Throine," but this one is. This one is different. It is something that will come to pass no matter the events leading up to it."
"A daughter?" Asked Jared as he dropped to his knees.
"I think it was too much for him," said Nick as he moved closer.
"It is quite a shock," said Andrea.
"We can only wait now," said Clarissa as she brushed her fingers through Cassy's hair.
"Wait for what?" Asked Jace.
"For her to wake up," said Clarissa, holding her daughter.
"It will be a while before she will be able to talk about it," said Throine," it is not everyday you see your future that will come to pass no matter what."
"Then we will wait until she can," said Jace.
"It I'm not needed anymore?" Asked Throine.
"Yes, of course. You may go rest. Thank you, Throine," said Clarissa.Throine nodded and left the room as everyone waited for the two teenagers to recover.
Jace and Nick had fallen asleep by the time Cass showed signs of waking. Jared ran to her side. Clarissa waited patiently as Cassy's eyes opened."Hi, baby," said Clarissa.
"Mom?" Asked Cass.
"I'm here sweety," answered Clarissa.
"And so am I," said Jared.
Cass looked at him. She shook her head as if trying to make sense of her thoughts.
"Are you okay?" Asked Jared.
"I think so. Why is everyone here?" Asked Cass.
"You had a seizure," said Clarissa.
"I did? I don't remember it," said Cass.
"It was in your sleep. I called your mom," said Jared.
"Did I hurt anyone?" Asked Cass.
"No, sweety. You didn't," said Clarissa.
"Oh, okay. I Saw something...Something important," said Cass.
"We know," said Jared.
"I can't remember," said Cass.
"Throine said you would struggle at first," said Clarissa.
"Throine? He was here?" Asked Cass.
"Yes, he's the one that helped you come out of your seizure," said Jared.
"Oh, I need to say thank you," said Cass as she tried to stand.
"You're not going anywhere now," said Clarissa.
"You're too weak," said Jared.
"But I want to get up," said Cass.
"You may. Just not right now," said Clarissa as Cass pouted and crossed her arms.An hour later Cass had remembered and had relayed the events of her Vision to Jared and the adults. Jared had been stunned back into silence and Andrea kept a close eye on him. Cass worried about him but was assured he would be fine. Cass was made to eat as well as drink as much liquids as possible. Cassy was finally allowed out of bed and she went to sit next to Jared as the adults went to speak with the guests.
"Are you okay?" Asked Cass.
"Yeah, just shocked," said Jared.
"I know it's alot to take in. It only happens in a few years time though."
"I know. So what's her name?"
"Bree."
"Bree. Sounds like something I would choose."
"I thought so too! She looked so much like the two of us. She had your color hair but my curls. And blue eyes with grey."
"She had magic?"
"If she did, she wasn't aware of it and neither were we. Witches do usually only get their Gifts when they're older you know."
"Right. It's just so much to process but at the same time I want to know so much!"
"When the time comes, we will. For now we have to focus on our task at hand."
"Oh, I almost forgot about that. Let's go to the others and see what they're doing now."
"Good idea. Let's go."Guests and hosts alike gathered to prepare for the upcoming fight. Elves, Fae and magicians teamed up and made their forces one.
"This is going to be a battle like none you have faced before. Can you deal with that? We wil fight but you will be needed," said Throine as Cass nodded.
"If it has to be done then so be it. I will fight. It is our prophecy that put this into place. We might as well finish it," said Cass.
"Then you will have our help where it can be given," said Astriel.
"And ours," said Magni with a nod.
"Ours too," said Throine.
"This is going to be a good fight. We will win. We have to," said Jared.Cassy sighed. Her world had changed so fast she hadn't actually had time to adapt. She had just been going with it as things happened. Now was the time to learn. Learn what she could and develop what she knew.
This battle's outcome would shape the world's fate. It would shape hers. All of their fates now laid on her shoulders. She would be damned if she let her family down.
Jared smiled at her and embraced her tight.
"We'll get through this and when we do, we can finally relax," he said.
"As long as it's over soon then that's fine by me," said Cass.
"I think we all feel that way," said Jared as he leaned in for a kiss."They're coming," said Magni.
"The Necromancers?" Asked Cass.
"Yes, we must get ready," answered Magni.
Jared grumbled.
Everyone stood and ran outside. Cass looked up. The clouds were a dark shade of purple. At least they had a warning. She looked at all her friends and family. Would she see them all alive after this? Would she lose someone? She shook her head. She couldn't afford to think like that now.Animals in the woods went quite. Not even the trees dared whisper to one another as the Necromancers advanced on them. Everyone waited.
The three magicians crafted shields around the yard. It would not keep them safe for long but it would help.Too soon, three Necromancers stepped out if the woods. Magni looked shocked. As if he had never seen anything like it in his life. Throine and Astriel stepped closer to Cass. They would need her as she would need them.
With one wave of a hand, their shields were down. The Necromancers continued forward. They were after one thing only. They were after Cass.
"Come now, child and we will spare your family. Refuse and we will kill them," said the leader.
"I am not a child. And I will not go anywhere with you. This is my home. Leave and never turn back. Stay and face the consequences," said Cass.
"You have just doomed them all," answered the leader.
"Then let's fight," said Cass already feeling the adrenaline.
"Yes, let's," said Magni.
They casted all sorts of spells as the Necromancers casted their own. For each dark spell, came a counter spell from the magicians. Cassy had her hands full with the leader whom she was struggling with.
He lifted Cassy into the air with a flick of his finger.
She struggled against an invisible hold.
"Scared of heights, child?"
"No, I just don't like being touched!"
"If that's the problem..." He snapped his fingers and let go of Cass. She fell briefly before gaining control. Cass floated above the Necromancer. He looked stunned. Cassy smiled.
"You didn't know I could do this?" She asked.
"No I did not. No matter. If you want to fly then so be it."
A force pushed against Cass, pushing her higher and higher. She pushed back, coming down again. The Necromancer looked ready to slice her in two.
"Do you ever listen?"
"Sometimes. Why? Do we have a problem?"
"Yes. You won't stay where I put you!"
"Sorry if it's not working out," said Cass as she threw bolts of lightning at him.
"Stupid girl, that won't hurt me. You need real magic to do anything which you obviously do not have."
"She doesn't,but I do," said Magni, standing next to Cass.
"And what do you want, warlock?"
"This," said Magni, casting a spell so powerful the very ground shook at the force.
"You cannot beat us!" Screamed the Necromancer.
"We sure as hell can try," said Cass as she put more effort in than ever before to help her friends.
The battle raged for hours until the last Necromancer was sucked up into the earth.
The magicians were drained and Cassy didn't look any better. She just made it to Jared when her legs gave way, making him catch her.
"Come on," said Jared as everyone entered the house and waited for the next wave of evil to come knocking at their door.Cassy didn't stay conscious long enough to feel Jared put her to bed. She would sleep for days before waking from her slumber.
The others could do nothing but wait.
They would have to fight a battle without her. They just didn't know it yet.
Jared lay next to Cass as she slept and held her tight. She might not be awake but he would stay there as long as he could. Until his love woke up.Until she came back to him...
