Part Two
The Absence
✘✘✘
“Alright, babe. I’ll call Harry first to tell him about our plans for tonight. Okay, bye. Love you too.” Louis said to his girlfriend, Eleanor over the phone.
The school was empty by the time Louis was done marking papers for his students. He was the school’s football team’s coach as well as an English teacher. He wasn’t very fond of being a teacher but he was only doing it for his best friend’s favour seeing as Zayn, the said best friend was out of town for a couple of weeks. Besides, English wasn’t a hard subject for him to teach.
Louis walked towards the school exit after locking up the classroom. He was excited of tonight since he was spending the night with Eleanor and they’re going to have a dinner at some fancy restaurant she likes. He did feel a tad bit guilty for always leaving Harry alone in the flat but there was nothing to do much about it. Maybe it was time for Harry to get over the lad he once dated and find someone for him to spend time with.
Maybe Louis should do something about it.
Once he was out at the parking lot, Louis approached his black Volvo that he had ever since he was studying at a university in Manchester. The old car wasn’t in the best condition nor in a bad condition so as long as it still looked good and can drive for miles and miles, it was fine by Louis. After all, it was a present from both of his parents.
He called Harry when he was already in the car. It was unusual for Harry to ignore his call. His flat mate always answers his phone by the third ring, at least. Louis had ringed him for over five times and all of them went straight into voicemail with Harry’s voice, “Hiiiiii. I might be busy that’s why I didn’t answer your call. If it’s important, please leave a message after the beep.”
The sixth and last phone call, Louis heard a woman with a robotic voice said, “The person you call is unavailable.”
That’s really odd for Harry’s case.
Louis threw his phone onto the passenger’s seat after making those phone calls. Instead of driving back to the flat, he drove straight towards the book shop where Harry works. In his heart, he hoped that Harry was in a good condition and he will be greeted by the dimpled smile that he adored so much.
