3.5 – The Flat

IT WAS a miracle that Harry Styles managed to get a flight ticket to London at such a short notice that departed at 10PM Los Angeles time. He was excited to go back to his home despite the cold weather there but he knew he had to say good bye to the sunny city anyway.

Throughout the flight back home, he was feeling nervous rather than excited to meet Louis. He didn’t know what to expect. He wasn’t ready to confront his feelings for Louis. After all, he did run away from those feelings and tried to move on but everything he did seem to remind him about Louis even more.

I’m here.

Just like he had promised, Harry texted Niall as soon as he got out of the airplane with a rucksack slung over his shoulder. He followed the crowd of people rushing to claim their baggage on the conveyor belt piled with mountains of many types of bags. It took about ten minutes for Harry to get his suitcase and a small luggage since there was a massive crowd and he missed when his bag when it came to his direction.

The Sun was no longer visible in the sky when Harry stepped out of Heathrow Airport to wait for his ride. Harry had to take out a hoodie he had packed in his rucksack to keep himself warm. The leaves were starting to detached themselves from the trees and the weather started to become colder. It was totally opposite with the weather in Lost Angeles. It was almost like getting push into a freezer after having a day spend at a beach under the scorching hot sun.

A car’s honk brought Harry back to reality. It was a light blue Mustang that Harry knew so well it was Niall’s. So, he approached the car with his suitcase and a small luggage in tow.

“Hey, you’ve tanned a bit, mate.” commented Niall with a big smile, giving a full view of his pearly whites.

“Not even a ‘I miss you’? Just, ‘oh, you’ve tanned, mate’? Seriously, I feel right at home. Thank you.” Harry babbled to himself in a teasing manner as he loaded his belongings into the trunk of the car.

“You can’t be affected that much when I’m stating the truth.”

After that, Harry and Niall’s conversation shifted to a different topic when Niall began to drive away from the Heathrow Airport. Niall told him about all sorts of things that he had left out for instance; the English Premier League scoreboard, the new Spiderman movie and his thought on stopping to dye his hair blonde because he was getting sick of the colour. During Niall’s chatter, Harry wasn’t giving him a full attention. He had something on his mind.

Niall had suggested for Harry to come over to his flat to have a cuppa and catch up some more but Harry refused to do so. He wanted to go to his flat as soon as possible since the aching feeling of nervousness was beginning to fill his body from head to toe and Harry absolutely hated the feeling. It was better to handle the problem first then he can have all the fun he wants with Niall.

The curly-headed lad stood in front of the door of his flat with Louis. There was a potted plant beside the door that Harry would water everyday but since he was gone, the leaves lost its dark green colour and replaced by a sunny yellow colour and that must have been because Louis didn’t even bother to water it. This somehow made Harry chuckled lightly to himself.

He wasn’t sure if he should knock on the door or should he just unlocked the door with his very own keys.

He wasn’t even sure if Louis was in the flat.

After a few minutes of considering his options, Harry decided to unlock the door himself. When he swung the door open, something jumped at him and it made him fell down the hard floor on his back.

Turned out, it was a grey furred cat. So this had been keeping Louis and Eleanor company?

Harry petted the cat and stood up to enter the flat with the cat in his right arm against his hip and and his other hand grabbed the handle of his suitcase and luggage.

The flat was a mess. It didn’t really surprised Harry since he knew how much Louis hated doing chores. He didn’t expect Louis to completely change his nature to start keeping the flat clean while he was gone. It was a tad bit odd that Eleanor didn’t even help to clean the mess.

-

11PM and there was still no sign of Louis.

Harry spent his time waiting for Louis to arrive by cleaning the flat’s mess. He wondered where Louis was since he was sure Louis had arrived at their flat since his luggage was in his room. Harry was beginning to feel worried for the older boy. He didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.

While Harry was watching the telly with Lightning—Harry found out that cat’s name by the black glittered collar wrapped around its’ neck—cuddled up against his body, he heard the sounds of keys unlocking the door. He quickly got up from the sofa to welcome Louis with his surprise return.

The door was pushed open to reveal the Louis.

Louis looked like a wreck. His brown hair was long and messy. He smelt of alcohol and cigarette smoke. Just from looking at Louis’ state, Harry knew he was very, very drunk.

“Oh, fuck. I see him here, too.” grumbled Louis as he placed his forehead against the wall beside the door.

“Lou, it is Harry. I’m here.” Harry kept his hands behind his back, unsure if he should touch Louis or not.

“What, whatever.” Louis shook his head and walked past Harry, “I need some sleep. I’m already seeing things.”

Well, Harry didn’t expect this kind of welcome from Louis.
