Suddenly, Lapis Lazuli noticed the arms wrapped around her and heard the words that were said. She stopped crying, and looked up at the huge orange quartz hugging her. She felt... confused? Why would Jasper, the brute, the solider, the feelingless monster feel sympathy for her? Slowly, Jasper's arms stopped hugging her. The two gems looked at each other.

"Look Lazuli. I'm sure we can work this out. Just... give me control of Malachite, and I'll fix everything. I promise."

Lapis, who was still very messed up because of the sudden breakdown she had just a few seconds ago, looked at Jasper with eyes full of pain and belief. She nodded. Jasper stood up and raised both of her hands with a scary smile on her face. The ground shook. The two could feel the movement of Malachite.

Suddenly, Lapis realized what she had done. She let Jasper control Malachite! As fast as she could, Lapis pulled out a wave of water, which she wrapped around Jasper. For a second, Jasper seemed to be defeated by this watery prison once again. But, a new power seemed to appear from Jasper's side. She was turning the water into something harder... ice?! Lapis gasped and forgot to hold the water around Jasper, which caused her to break free.

"What are you doing?!" yelled Lapis at Jasper, who was standing in front of her, raising her hands once again with a terrifying smile. "You said you'd help!" cried Lapis, as she took some water and shot it against Jasper. The Quartz turned the water going towards her into ice in seconds. The piece of ice fell to the ground. "I trusted you!" screamed the ocean gem as she send more and more water Jasper's way, who was now having trouble blocking her attacks.

"I am helping! Can't you see? We're going to defeat the rebels!" said Jasper. Malachite was swimming towards the surface of the ocean. "When the Diamonds discover what we did, that we wiped out the last of the rebels, we'll be heroes! Just imagine it, Lapis Lazuli. You could be in the elite again. Do all the things you did before the war, as if nothing happened. The Diamonds would accept you again. Everything would be the same, just as it used to. Don't you want that?" asked Jasper.

"I do," said the mirror gem with a sigh. "Of course I want that, but I can't! I'm not on Homeworld anymore!"

The yellow eyes of the orange gem went from hope to anger. "Fine. I gave you a choice," she said. "But you chose the hard way. Then let's do this the hard way!" The water under the gems' feet began freezing and soon turned into ice. Malachite swam even faster. When Lapis noticed this, the quickly pulled out a pair of chains and wrapped them around Jasper's hands. Jasper easily broke free from the chains that were now ice too.

The solider couldn't understand this. She gave her fusion partner the best possible choice! Why would she refuse? Why wouldn't she want to be a hero? Be accepted? And be... happy? That's what we're on Homeworld, right? Happy...

Jasper rose a huge amount of ice shards with her new power. Millions of ice shards, each of them had a different shape and size, and they were all glittering like diamonds. But neither one of the gems cared about that right now. Jasper was begging a fight and Lapis had to get ready for her attack. She fired, forcing the millions upon millions of ice pieces Lapis' way.

Lapis didn't know what to do. She couldn't do anything. She could control water in it's liquid state, but she couldn't control it as ice, in the solid state. Her eyes widened from the sight of the ice, as an idea popped up in her head. Sure, Jasper did freeze all of the surface in sight, but she definitely didn't have the strength and ability to freeze the entirety of the water, did she? The ice from Jasper was getting closer and closer. Lapis didn't have much time. It's this or poofing. Lapis thought as she broke the ice in front of her and pulled out a wave of water. The ice shards were stopped. She survived.

Lapis' wave was rising until it became huge. Jasper looked at it, terrified of whatever the blue gem is planning. And suddenly, the wave dropped. Jasper turned around and started running for her life. Jasper was about to get poofed by a giant wave, sent towards her by a gem who she forced into fusing with her. Even though, technically, gems didn't need air to survive, the pressure of the wave would still be strong enough to poof her. She was running, running for her life, until she slipped. On her own ice.

This is it. Jasper thought. She closed her eyes, awaiting to be poofed or even shattered by an enormous wave. She was waiting. After a few seconds, Jasper slowly opened her eyes and turned around. She couldn't see any giant waves, coming to shatter her. All she could feel were small waves washing her feet. She was alive. I need to get revenge on that dark blue brat. thought Jasper.

So they continued. In their battle of who wins the fusion over. And they fought for a very long time.
