“What if we have an elaborate Atlantis theme cake?” I thought out loud to Jake.

He nodded his head and stayed silent while he tapped every word I said on his tablet.

I looked over at him and the corners of my lips tugged up. He had on black trousers that hugged his ass perfectly and a black fitted sweater with a blue collar peeking up from underneath. His sleeves were rolled above his elbows and every furious tap he made on that tablet flexed his muscles deliciously. His dark brown hair was tousled like he had been running his fingers threw it all day. He was wearing a pair of black prescription nerd glasses and his chestnut brown eyes flicked up at me through them and then back at his work. His pink lips were in a tight line from concentrating and he had his eyebrows furrowed. To say that he looked adorable would be an understatement. My mind became filled with inappropriate fantasies of teachers or tutors and I shook my head to get rid of them. Now is not the time, get it together.

“Jake?” I asked innocently. His eyes flickered up again to meet mine, “I need your honest opinion. I don’t want you to stay quiet,” I looked at him and saw his eyes fixed on my chest, “at least not right now.” His brown orbs snapped to mine and darkened when he got my meaning. “So, the theme?” I asked, changing the subject.

“Atlantis? Correct?” I nodded my head, “I like it. You could do a cake with a couple tiers and have it covered in an ocean blue colored fondant.”

I nodded my head excitedly, “Yea, and holding up the tiers could be Grecian pillars made out of some edible food.” My face broke out in a smile as ideas began to swarm in my head for the cake. I walked towards the giant pad of paper being held up on the easel and began to sketch out what I wanted the cake to look like.

I first sketched out the three round tiers of the cake and in-between each cake were three elaborate pillars supporting each level. I swooped my pencil around the bottom edges of the cake to form crashing waves, which could be made with royal icing or something along those eyes. The first two tiers were shaded in blue and the top was a greyish type color. I drew in designs to make the layer of cake resemble a simple castle. On top of the castle I drew both a trident and a quick sketch of a mermaid unsure of which one to use. Along the bottom of the first tier I drew shells and seaweed leading up the dessert. I decided to add an extra level of cake that would be square and would be what was supporting all the other levels. I shaded in this level a pretty sandy color and covered it with seaweed and seashells. I stood back from my sketch and tapped my pencil along my lips, out of habit I caught the pencil between my teeth and began to nibble on it.

My hands grasped the sketchpad and I turned it around to Jake, “What about this?”

His eyes widened and his lips twitched up into a smile, “I love it!”

My lips formed a wide smile and I looked over at Jake as he admired my creation. He glanced over to me feeling my gaze and I looked away before he could catch me. Now is not the time.

I found myself repeating that to myself a lot around him.

“Miss Jackson?” He asked, “Is there anything else you need? I need to return to my desk to finish my work.”

I nodded and dismissed him to return back to his work, he smiled at me politely and walked out of my office silently shutting the door behind him.

I placed my sketchpad in the corner of my office and walked back to my desk to finalize some sort of meal plan for the big event. Soon, I became lost in my work and engrossed in the planning ideas.

A loud knock caused my train of thought to come to an abrupt halt, “Yes?”

Jake came through the door carrying a vase filled with dozens of gorgeous thorn-less red roses. My lips formed an ‘o’ as I watched him walk in holding the beautiful bouquet of flowers. I looked at him questioningly and he informed me of the letter attached. I plucked the note from its holder and opened it:
