"Niall."

My head instantly snaps away from Mary, who was once again subjected to Paige's ruthless flirting, and towards the person who called my name.

"Good morning," I greet shyly when my brain recognizes the person to be none other than Lisa, my counselor.

She was dressed in a black pencil shirt accompanied by a white blouse and had a much smaller quantity of lipstick-today's shade was a gentle pink that seemed to fit her far more than the striking red she wore the other day-compared to yesterday's quantity.

"Good morning," Lisa returns my greeting, smiling softly at me. "I was actually looking for you, Niall."

"You were?" Confusion enters my tone as I tilt my head to the side like a puppy, brown eyebrows furrowing and hands wringing together when fiery hot fear suddenly grips my insides.

"Yes, I wanted to talk to you about something," Lisa explains while gesturing towards the hallway that lead to room eleven.

Dread quickly thrums through my veins as my mind goes into a frenzy, wondering what I could have done and what this "something" could possibly be about.

However, just as quick as the emotions surge up within me they swiftly die down when the erratic brain inside my skull takes note of a callus yet firm manicured hand laying on top of my shoulder- comforting me, stabilizing me.

"If it's anything serious then I'd prefer I also take part in this     discussion," Paige calmly yet assertively intervenes, making her presence and desires quite obvious in a couple of words.

Warmth blossoms in my chest at Paige's silent support-and if I smiled like a loon as the warmth enveloped me, well, no one has the right to judge because I had an awesome friend even if she was a bit bossy-that she was showing through the steady grip she had on my shoulder.

"No, no!" Lisa denies quickly, eyes comically wide and lips gaping like a fish. "I apologize for my words, I now realize how they could have been misinterpreted; what I meant when I said I needed to talk to Niall was that I wished to let him know that today in our group discussions he was required to participant and share something about himself."

"That's all?" I blurt out, tan cheeks flooding with blood at the amused chuckle I receive from my counselor.

"That's all," Lisa responds while giving me a gentle smile, nodding to Paige before turning on her heels and returning to room eleven.

"Well that was rather anticlimactic," Paige mutters, causing me to turn to her with a raised eyebrow.

"What were you expecting?" I inquire as I stare at my childhood friend, who simply shrugged and turned to Mary-not before giving me a pat on the shoulder, though.

Blue eyes roll behind my best friend's back before I also join in the conversation only to be reminded of the group session by Mary.
