Chapter 8-Absent

Mayuri's pov

The Captains of the thirteen court guard squads stood in the meeting hall..Head captain Yamamoto sat in front of us all..Yes...all thirteen of us were assembled..

I would have liked to say that..however...that was not the case...Captains didn't have to turn up to the meetings but this one we were all told we had to attend as it was extremely important.

"Where are captains Hitsugaya, Unohana and Ukitake?" asked the head captain, a slight annoyance in his voice.."..Ukitake and Unohana told  me they would be here, and Hitsugaya has no reason not to be..."

There was a deadly silence...

"It's not like Toshiro to not show up.." said Kyoraku

That was true..He was a very rule abiding captain usually...well aside from when something personal to him came up...like..

"...Have any of you seen Momo lately?" asked Captain Hirako..His eyes narrowed..I detected he had thought the same thing as me..

"..You don't think..he's gone off to find her..?" asked Komamura..

Shinji nodded

"I think it's a possibility.." agreed Rose..

"Yeah.."agreed Kensei..

Byakuya nodded in agreement.."Those two are pretty close.."

"...He definitely has a thing for her.." added Lisa, reading what appeared to be a manga...It looked somewhat interesting with a scientist female on the front...maybe I could use it for my experiments..

"I wonder if he's been in a fight..or she has.."said Kenpachi..

That guy..I sighed to myself..He's always so obsessed with fighting..He probably wanted to be in on the action..I wish I'd been there..if there'd been death, I could have used the bodies to further my research..

"Then why can't he.." began Sui feng...

"QUIETTTTTTTTTT!" yelled Yamamoto.."..No discussing the captains like that..We have much more serious things to discuss! We'll wait a few more minutes..if they don't turn up ...we'll have to begin without them.."

There was another deadly silence..

BANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG!

All the captains turned their heads to the now open door..

Toshiro's POV

I kept flash stepping as fast as I could..I wished and prayed that Captain Unohana would be where Rangiku told me..Hang in there Momo.. I gasped...She was losing more and more blood..There was no time to delay any form of medical treatment..

She was getting worse..she needed medical attention now..!! I couldn't see any soul reapers on the way...they must have been away on business..or in the human world..If only I'd seen them where I had been..

..The soul reapers with healing powers could have saved me the trouble of seeking out Unohana at this critical stage!!

I finally reached Unohana's office..I was gasping for breath when I got to the door..I knocked, wheazing and gasping for breath..I felt so ashamed..I was a captain of the thirteen court guard squads..I had been training to become stronger..

..To be able to protect her..To be able to finally.. I felt my heart race faster and faster...and blood trickling...This must have been from Momo...she was losing even more blood..

I knocked once more, gasping even more for breath..I couldn't save her..after all I had done over the few years of training...

The one...who always cared for me...The one

..The only one..that...I....will ever....l.......

I felt myself cough..and a large amount of blood came spurting out of my mouth..I...had overdone myself...So..this is my limit..?..I thought to myself..I heard the door squeak open..

"Captain Hitsugaya?" I heard a voice say..

"..C-Captain...Uno...H-ana...."

I saw no more...All I saw was black...pitch black..

This was the end...

Haku's pov

I felt something strange..as if part of me had blacked out...the ice feeling I'd felt before felt fainter than previously....my brown eyes widened..

I took a deap breath..It was probably just my imagination..but I felt like I was connected to another being...It wasn't the same connection that Master Zabuza and I shared..

No...It was a lot different..I sensed ice...a feeling I had never felt with master..Yes..Master had not been open with his feelings very much but this feeling literally felt like Ice..

"Captain Utitake...Who is this you have with you? You do know that " began an intimidating, booming voice..According to Utikate...This was head Captain Yamamoto

"I'm well aware that he shouldn't be here..but.."

The captain looked at me, a gentle smile on his face.."..This guy..may be able to help us..he's special..very special.."

I smiled nervously..

"And who may you be?" demanded the Head Captain.

"..My name is Haku...Haku Yuki..of the ice style..."

I smiled gently.."It's an honour to meet you and.." I turned to the other captains.."and you captains of the thirteen court guard squads too.." I bowed my head in respect..

The captains eyes widened in surprise.
