Picture of Trish at the party to the side
Crisp Autumn air, leave covered lawns and fresh baked apple pie. Mother's Lullabies and Margaret's warm bubble baths.
I'm ten again, running through the fields with Barbara and Ronnie, picking at the plants in our way and jumping into new piles of red, orange and brown leaves. Mother sits on the porch talking to Ronnie's mother about God knows what. I guess life wasn't so bad after all, we spent most time outside playing with our friends.
Things didn't get serious untill I started high school, mother wanted me to grow a backbone and said to start giving orders instead of taking them. I never really got how I could stop taking orders when all mother ever does is boss me around.
My eyes flutter open to a hot beating sun against my forehead, I'm snapped into reality when I hear Zayn coughing.
We're in the front of his truck and my head is leaning on his shoulder. Liking the position we are in I don't hesitate to move, the car is heated and the uncomfortable dress I wore the previous night has stuck to my skin and caused an irritation that is unbearable.
Zayn's body shifts and I bring my head up and move to the opposite side of the seat and lean against the window.
"Mornin'." He says while rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand.
"Hi." I nod and my voice shakes from not talking for twelve hours. The car ride with Zayn had no talking and we stopped outside a small town forty miles from Jackson to get rest.
"There's a bus stop around here, I'm sure of it, I saw a bus speed past us." I tell him while pointing down the road we are on.
"You want to take the bus? Do you have any money? I don't mind taking you where you need to go." He runs his hands through his hair before pushing on the gas and continuing to drive down the winding road.
"I have bus money in my pouch." I pull my pouch into eye view and check to see if I even put money into it. "And I don't want you in this."
"I already am in this." He states while pulling on to a marked road and pushing on the gas even harder.
"Slow down." I say and watch his muscles loosen in his back as he leans against the seat and slows down the truck. "Your not in this, even if you are I don't want you to be. My family drama is my own."
"I understand where your coming from but I can't just drop you off at a bus stop in a town that might not even be marked on a single map." He gives me a couple glares between every couple of words while he tries to remain focused on the road.
"I'll be fine, no one will hurt me." I keep my focus on the road so I won't be influenced by his golden eyes.
"That's the problem, someone will hurt you. That's not what I'm trying to get at here."
"Then what are you trying to get at?" I interrupt him and proceed my plan of taking a bus to the North, it will cost me a lot but I can make pit stops in town's along the way.
"That I'm not going to drop you in the middle of no where." He puts emphasis into his sentence to convince me that his idea is better than mine, it probably is but I don't want to have my mother hunt us down and end up hurting Zayn.
"Zayn, listen to me." He stops the truck and pulls over to the side of the road. "I have a mother that will have you killed if she finds out I ran away with you."
"Which is why I should stay with you, if I go back to Jackson you're mom will find out sooner or later that I was your one way ticket out of that house." His voice is convincing and I just want to continue to stare into his eyes and have him travel with me.
