A/N This was originally going to be a one-shot but I decided to make this longer instead! Hope you enjoy, this is my first Pearlmethyst book (and it's just as depressing as the others whooo). #savethechairs2K17

"Steven, hurry!" Pearl called upstairs to the boy who had been reading in his room, "And bring a jacket!" She added.

"Coming!" He called back, running down the stairs where the Crystal Gems were waiting on the warp pad, "Where are we going?"

"There's a infestation of corrupted gems at the strawberry fields that we need to take care of," Garnet explained.

"Oh, it's absolutely horrible Steven," Pearl sighed dramatically as she warped them there, "Gems are everywhere and they're just destroying the battle sight."

She wasn't lying. When they got there they immediately saw multiple bright blue crab-like creatures crawling all over the place, some about the size of a hand and some big enough to topple the giant battle axes scattered around the fields.

"Woah," Amethyst raised an eyebrow at all the destruction, "This is almost as bad as my room."

Garnet summoned her weapon and went right into the area, poofing anything that dared to come towards her.

"These don't have gems," Garnet said, "Keep an eye out for the mother."

"Yes ma'am," Steven gave a salute and summoned his shield.

Pearl and Amethyst shrugged and began fighting too, tackling some of the bigger ones together.

"Hey P!" Amethyst yelled, "Watch this!" She somersaulted off a rather large sword onto one of the crabs and rode it as it ran around.

Pearl chuckled at her showing off, leaning against a rock, "Honestly Amethyst, don't torture the poor thing."

"I do what I want!" Amethyst grinned cockily and winked, making Pearl blush. She turned away hoping no one else would notice.

Garnet totally noticed. She shot a thumbs up at Amethyst causing her to blush and she nearly fell off her unconventional ride. Garnet had known for a while that Pearl and Amethyst liked each other. For some reason they insisted on keeping it a secret from everyone (including each other) but Garnet didn't really care. She would support her teammates no matter what.

"I'm gonna do a flip!" Amethyst yelled to Pearl. She shakily stood up, attempting to balance like she would on a surfboard. Pearl shook her head, knowing she'd probably end up crashing. Little did she know, Pearl would be the one crashing.

"Pearl, look out!" Garnet barely had time to yell when the Mother Gem attacked Pearl. The thing was absolutely huge. It grabbed Pearl and flung her against the sword Amethyst had flipped off of earlier. Steven ran over to the dazed gem right before she poofed.

"PEARL!" Amethyst yelled in alarm. She glared in the direction of the Mother and steered her monster towards it. She flung her whip around the creature, wrapping it tightly while the others attacked it by taking out its legs. Garnet delivered the final blow, poofing the thing and bubbling its gem.

Amethyst hopped off her monster and sprinted to Pearl's gem.

"No, no, no..." Amethyst mumbled as she picked it up, "Steven!"

Garnet and Steven ran over to where she was.

"It's cracked," Steven gasped.

"You gotta heal it before it gets worse," Amethyst held out Pearl's gem, which had a long crack in the middle and a small chip.

"I got this," Steven licked his hand and covered the white stone with his magical spit. Slowly the crack sealed shut. Everyone let out a sigh of relief.

"Lets go home," Garnet put a hand on Amethyst's shoulder. The gems trudged along, Amethyst holding Pearl's gem gently.

"She'll be alright," Garnet comforted Steven as they sat on the couch at the temple.

"It took Pearl so long to come back last time," Steven sighed. He glanced over to where Amethyst was sitting with her by the window. She stared depressingly at the gem.

"We'll just have to be patient," Garnet said. She looked at Steven who still looked a little down, "How about we go get some doughnuts. You did very well back there."

"Thanks," He gave a small smile at Garnet's attempt to cheer him up, "Do you want to come too Amethyst?"

"I'm fine," Amethyst mumbled.

"Alright..." Steven stared at her unsurely as they left.

Amethyst turned her attention back to the gem in front of her.

If only I hadn't distracted her, Amethyst thought, this is all my fault.

She leaned back and closed her eyes. She felt exhausted.

Just as she was getting ready to fall asleep, Pearl's gem began to glow and float in the air.
