"Why are we doing this again?" Lars grumbled as he walked with Sadie.
"Because," Sadie shot a small glare at him,"Steven seemed really upset the other day and he hasn't come by the Big Donut since."
"And that's our problem because...?"
"Lars!" Sadie chastised.
"Calm down. I'm just joking...sheesh."
"Whatever," Sadie shook her head, putting her hands in her pockets as they continued to walk towards the temple. After climbing the steps she gave a soft knock on the door. A tired looking Steven was the one to greet them.
"Hey guys," Steven rubbed his eyes, blinking in the sunlight, "What're you doing here?"
"That's what I asked," Lars said under his breath, earning an elbow to the chest from Sadie.
"We had some extra doughnuts leftover from our weekend special. Lars and I figured you might want some." She pulled out a small box from her bag.
"Thanks guys." Steven took them and placed them on the coffee table.
"So..." Sadie said as the three stood in awkward silence, "We haven't seen you around lately. Where've you been?"
"Oh well..." Steven looked towards the floor, sending a glance backwards to the gem door. "There's been a lot of gem drama happening lately. Things have been stressful I guess."
"What kind of gem drama?" Lars narrowed his eyes unsurely. After that time with the green hand thing coming from outer space, he'd learned to be wary of 'gem drama.'
"Arguments mostly." Steven ringed his hands a bit as he talked. "Pearl, one of the Crystal Gems, lost her memory and it's kind of effected everyone."
"Steven?" A voice called from towards the bathroom. The person walked out and entered the living room. "Did you call me?"
"Not really, but since you're here I might as well introduce you to some friends of mine," Steven smiled a bit. He lead the gem towards the two teenagers who did actually recognize her, if only from seeing her around the small town.
"Guys this is Pearl," Steven grinned, "And Pearl, this is Lars and Sadie."
"Well hello there." She held her hand out towards the taller boy. "It's nice to meet you. Sadie is a beautiful name."
"Wha-" Lars's face grew a bright shade of red, retracting his hand immediately.
"I'm Sadie actually," Sadie accepted the handshake in Lar's behalf, stifling a laugh while she did.
"What are those symbols on your shirt?" Pearl motioned towards their purple shirts, "Are they for some sort of club?"
"Well actually-" Sadie began to answer when Lars cut in with devious smile plastered on his face, clearly having recovered from the name mishap.
"We are part of an elite organization here at Beach City called The Doughnut League," Lars smirked. "It's only where the coolest of people belong."
"Yeah!" Steven grinned, "I have a doughnut shirt too!"
"Well, you are pretty cool." Pearl grinned at the younger boy before turning back to Lars. "But why doughnuts? Is it another word for cool?"
Lars mocked being offended. "Doughnut is cooler than cool. I mean..." Lars scoffed. "Everyone loves doughnuts."
"Oh well..." Pearl frowned in thought, "Can I join the Doughnut League?"
"I'm pretty sure we have some extra shirts," Sadie shrugged. "We could give you one if you'd like."
"Uh, we cant just give her one," Lars cut in. "She's got to earn it. After all, how do we know she's cool enough?"
