Emily's P.O.V
"Have you packed your things yet Emily?," shouted mum, she had been acting weirdly recently, its actually quite depressing.
"Yes, I have!" I replied
"Good, now we can get going sooner, come on then,"said mum. I picked up my bags and hopped down the stairs into the living room where I found my mum sat down on the couch with tears rolling down her cheek, with her hands trembling, but she wiped away at her wet cheeks, revealing her red face. "Do you love me sweety?" my mum asked, I could see that she was welling up with sadness.
"Of course I do," I replied, hugging the air out of my mum, but she started crying even more, I knew something was wrong, but I was only 6 years old so I had NO idea what was really going on. "Do you know why I'm- I mean we have to leave this house? Now that your father has gone and I have no job, we simply cant afford to live here and we have to start a new life far away," mum said as she stroked the back of my hair.
The sun was setting and cast an orange shadow against the clouds and the sky and I was getting sleepy. I jumped into the front seat of the car and but my bags at my feet and watched as my mum get into the car and close the door. I started to drift into deep sleep with the sound of the cars engine on the road and my mums muffled sobs, I said a mental goodbye to our old house, falling asleep
It was pitch black when I woke up and I noticed that I was no longer sitting in the comfortable seat of my mums car but now was on something cold and hard. I waited for my eyesight to adjust to the dark and then I noticed I was laying down on the pavement, I started to panic, where was mum?! I curled up into a ball, wrapping my hoodie around my legs. People walked passed, people who were strangers to me and each one of them ignored me, until, someone came up and spat at me, missing my arms by an inch, the man then ran away, smirking and muttering the words "Filthy, street urchin" I was tooken aback, Firstly, I liked to be clean and I WAS clean, secondly, I had a mother and lastly, I have a home... I think.
I looked around and found my bag beside me, and what looked like the key to my mums car, I quickly grabbed it and scanned my surroundings and found the car, my heart skipped a beat and I slung my bag over my shoulders and ran to the car with its key clutched in my hand. When I got to the car, it took me as while until I was able to turn the lock with my small fingers and when I unlocked it, I bounced inside, hugging the seat. My mum would never leave me.
