I looked over to the window again, worried. Miss. Crow had been gone all day now. A trip to visit Miss. Avocet never took that long. If it were to, I know she would take me with her.

The dry lightning struck outside with a loud crack. The loop was supposed to reset soon. I ran to the door, expecting to see Miss. Crow outside, ready to start the reset.

Whenever I found out the Gypsy woman was nowhere in sight, I looked at the note attached to the doorframe.

"If I fail to return to the loop before reset, take the ferry to Carinholm, the island I told you about. Ask directions to the children's home and enter the loop through the charin. You should not age during this trip. Find Alma Peregrine and tell her of the situation. Wait there for me and I should return to get you.
-Miss. Crow"

I read her note over thrice more and ran upstairs to collect my things as the lightning struck again.

I packed my gray suitcase with clothes and walked outside, careful to dodge all of the places the dry lightning was sure to strike.

I exited the loop through the dirty gray bomb shelter and found the boat dock. I was just about to get on the dark blue and white ferry to the Carinholm island when the captain stopped me.

"Ticket." He demanded, holding out his hand. I stood up a little straighter, looking the bald man in his gray eyes.

"My mother told me to get on this ferry. Abigale Laura Crow, have you heard of her?" I used the lie Miss. Crow had me recite, smirking slightly at his widened eyes and he nodded at me.

"Well, take you're seat, young lady, and if you need anything, anything at all, make sure to tell me. Everything one the house, Miss. Crow." He rambled, ushering me on the ferry.

I nodded and curtsied. "Thank you." I said, taking my seat at the front. A woman next to me was reading a newspaper. I looked over at it, searching for a date.

'The 18th of June, 1962.'

I widened my eyes looking back to the water. Was it 1962 already? I guess time went by quick whenever you are stuck in a loop. That would make me....26 years old.

Wow.

I stayed in the ferry until the boat stopped and I exited. Because Miss. Peregrine's loop was only about an hour away, I shouldn't age. That's what Miss. Crow said.

I fixed my hat on my head, not really wanting to lose it. I was self conscious about my ears so Miss. Crow gave me the hat . I had lived 14 years of my life thinking that my ears were just an ugly birth defect. I was always self-conscious of them.
