It was the third day of school since summer break. Oliver was getting back into the rhythm of school as he went into American Government 101.
He took a seat as the class began. "Alright kids, we're gonna do a brief rundown of the Articles of Confederation." Oliver opened his text book but noticed Rosie. Her brown hair glowed as she sat next to the window. He came up with a quick plan and wrote a note on a piece of paper.
He leaned over and gave the note to Danny. He mouthed the words "Pass it to Rosie." Danny smiled and mouthed back "What? For me?" He opened it to Oliver's displeasure. He chuckled lightly and started making kissy faces as Oliver. "Mr. Carter." Danny stopped and looked forward.
"Would you like to explain to the class why the Articles of Confederation failed?" Danny bit his lip before speaking up. "Because bitches didn't have enough power?" Everyone laughs as the teacher raises an eyebrow. "While you're right, I don't expect that language to be in this class ever again." Danny nods, "Sorry ma'am."
They finish the class as everyone leaves. "Mrs. Josie?" The teacher looks up at Oliver, who is holding a bird house. "I finished your bird house over the summer. I wish I had more time but hopefully it won't break anymore." Mrs. Josie smiles. "Oh Oliver, it's wonderful. You're such a darling." Oliver smiles, and says goodbye before leaving for his next class.
He leaves and bumps into Rosie who was talking with friends. "Oh! Sorry!" He picks up her books and hands them to her. "Thanks...um..."
Oliver smiles. "It's Oliver." She nods, and awkwardly shakes his hand. "Thanks." He nods, "No problem." She ignores him and goes back to her conversation. "So Rosie! I was just wondering if-" She turns around, a bit annoyed. "What?" He started over with a smile. "I was just wondering if you wanted to get coffee sometime? Or maybe go take a walk by the lake? I hear it's nice this time of year." She shakes her head, "Maybe. I'm dating Frank right now." Oliver nods, "I didn't mean like a date...I thought you broke up?"
Rosie takes a deep breath. "It's complicated. Actually...I do have a mission for you." Oliver nods, "Anything! I'm happy to help." She takes some books out of her backpack. "I need someone to run these to the library. I have this...thing to do today so I can't. Can you?" Oliver thinks for a bit. "I have an audition after school...but I'm sure I can do it some other t-" She gives him the bag and starts leaving. "Thanks Oliver!"
Oliver looks at the bag before taking it to his locker. "I'm sure she's just busy. That's why she couldn't talk longer." Danny slides next to him. "So Oliver. When are you gonna take me out for coffee?" Oliver pushes him away and begins walking to his next class.
"C'mon man! What about our walk on the lake? I hear it's wonderful this time of year. We can dance under the moonlight! Just the two of us!" He mimics a calming violin while slowdancing with himself. He bumps into someone.
"Principle Leroy! My bad!" The tall broad man stares down at him. "As you were, Mr. Carter." Danny nods and grabs his bags before running to his next class.
