Felicity was still crying when she was already half an hour away from where the incident took place.
[Crying]
Her cheeks were drenched in tears as she sped through the night. She kept her head straight and only thought of reaching the next stop and call her family. It was almost 7.30 PM by the time she checked her watch again.
"I'm gonna be late..I'm gonna be so late..[sobbing]"
Her eyes were already red and some of her make up were beginning to smudge her face. She can't be bothered to check with the mirror as she was so afraid to look at it. It almost felt as if that thing was still chasing her and on a more extreme imagination, sitting at the backseat. She took deep breaths as she tried to chase these thoughts away.
"Think logic, think positive Fel. Whatever we saw back there was nothing more than an elaborate prank by some low life who thinks it's funny to scare the shit out of people when they have to get home for their Thanksgiving dinner with their family!"
She was shouting in her mind while trying to come up with a reasonable explanation for what just happened. There was no way she could explain how the figure that was hit, flung into the air, dropped to the ground and pull off a Lazarus effect without so much as a scratch.
"I've seen what movies can do these days..yeah..that has to be it..just some people with lots of skills with tricks and what not..just people with overactive imagination..yeah..that has to be it.."
There was however, one other explanation but she was not willing to even consider that thought, not when she was driving alone on a semi desolated road at night. She can't afford to scare herself silly, not after what she had been through. She turned on the radio again.
"..somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue..and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.."
The next stop was about 10 minutes away. She was thinking of getting a quick check on her car as well if it was possible. The tank was full when she left the city and the car was well maintained. The snafu awhile back was probably caused by the impact when she hit that thing. But still, the explanation she had so far was far from satisfactory.
"What are the odds of the car breaking down at that exact moment? It wasn't even hard enough to kill the guy and there was no bump on the hood..and..and..what..no.."
She spoke too soon. Weird sounds were coming out of her car.
"Oh my God..No..No..No!"
Her car was dying again. With whatever that was left of the momentum the car had, she tried her best to steer the vehicle to the side of the road before it eventually gave out. As the last flicker of light dies out from her dashboard, Felicity, once again, found herself sitting alone in her car in a middle of nowhere. She was no longer screaming nor begging for her life, just the look of someone who was already jaded with the whole situation even though deep in her mind, she just wished she can scream as loud as she can. She was just sitting there, not even trying to start the car again. There were so many things going through her mind now that she wasn't even sure which one to prioritize first. It felt like the longest of time before she took her hands from the steering wheel. She undo her seatbelt before unlocking the door and stepped out of the vehicle with her bare feet. She took a moment to look at her feet before looking in both directions of the road. Even if she decided to walk all the way to the next stop, it will take her up to half an hour and even that depends on how fast she can walk and more importantly, her will to walk barefooted on a cold hard road. She just stood there with no thought to anchor on. Just when she felt like she was about to drift away, she saw a light in a distance.
"Oh great, another car, yay.."
Even sarcasm won't be able to save her from her current predicament but it was definitely better than screaming for her life. As she was thinking of whether to hail the car or not, the vehicle was getting closer by the minute. The big black car was on her side of the road when she got a clearer view of it, but then, it did something unexpected. The black car stopped, right there on the road.
"Huh?"
Felicity was still in a semi-zombie mode when it occurred as she wasn't really that ready to process this new bizarre situation. It was almost like an awkward moment when both the black car and her were staring at each other where none were willing to give an immediate response. She was about to decide on her next course of action, when suddenly, the big black car turned off its headlights. That was when things started to get creepy.
