"Just 10 more minutes, Fel...10 more minutes..."
Felicity still can't stop crying. She wasn't even thinking about the speed she was driving at. All she wanted was to just make it to the next stop and hear the voices of her loved ones again.
[Crying]
The night sky was lighted up with bright stars and a full moon. Very few cars go in and out of Eden on a daily basis, especially at night. Being a small town that it was, more and more young people were seeking job elsewhere and usually ended up residing elsewhere. Be that as it may, Eden will always be a home to Felicity.
"A home is where the heart is," Felicity would usually tell herself so.
"7:37 PM. It won't be long now." She felt a slight sense of comfort after checking her watch again.
Felicity kept looking outside her window for any signs of the stop along the highway. Oddly enough, all she saw were more plains and trees. Everywhere else looked deserted.
"It can't be. I knew the stop had to be here somewhere. It can't be. Don't tell me they just moved?"
Every time she had some reassuring, there will always be something of the exact opposite to counter its effect at the same moment. She had stopped crying but her anxiety was far from over. So as long she was still on the road, she will always be in 'danger'. As minutes began to pass and the stop was still nowhere in sight, the tingling sensation began to creep on her again. Worse case scenario, she could still make it to Eden without having to rely on any stops as that was the plan to begin with but the fact that the car broke down twice without any warning was enough to raise concern about whether the original plan was still a good idea. The drive felt long and silent. She was about to turn on the radio again when suddenly, the was a loud sound coming from the other side of the road. She barely saw what caused it.
[Speeding car sound]
"God!..Oh God.." Felicity was startled.
A car just sped right past her and was gone within seconds, over the horizon.
"What the hell was that about?"
She was still looking at a distance, almost as if she was hoping to catch the car's plate number. With only the headlight to guide her journey, there was very little chance to see anything else at a distance. She took her time before she finally turned on the radio again.
"Sweet dreams are made of this...Who am I to disagree?..I travel the world...And the seven seas...Everybody's looking for something.."
"Why do they keep playing this song anyway? This was already a few years old."
She was about to change the station when suddenly, came another sound.
[Speeding car sound]
[Screaming]
This time there were no less than 3 cars that passed by. This time, she almost screamed her heart out again.
"Bastards! You rotten dirty bastards!" She was cursing loudly inside her car and wished she was able to shout it out loud towards their faces.
