That night while getting ready for bed Bella heard something at her window. Thinking that it was the town's richest man was at it again. She went and opened the window, "Colt Manson, if you're here to ask for my hand again just go away. We don't--" She started to say until someone stopped her.

"Well I should leave than, if you have a suitor of wealth and better looking," came the voice of Adelric from the shadows.

"Ace, I didn't know it was you, and he is not my suitor. Just a scum who thinks that he can get any girl he wants, because of the family situation, or by flashing his money in front of them." She said leaning on her window sill looking for where he was hiding.

"Yet mia bella you called me è scumbag today," came a reply from the shadow of the tree outside her bedroom.

"Well you were being a little bit of a pain than and it was nicer then what I have called Colt to some friends in school. They haven't talked to me sense, because they are so in love with him."

"What about you, don't you like him?"

"No. sorry for being blunt, but he knows I don't. I want to fall in love with someone because of what's inside and not what they have. For beauty is only skin deep," Bella said moving away from the window and further into her room.

"Has he been coming because of something going on in your home," Adelric asked moving closer to her window yet still out of sight.

"Why do you say that?"

"You mentioned family situations when you called Colt a scum," he said chuckling.

"Well yes, that's the only reason I put up with your ways today without knowing anything about you," Bella mentioned coming back to the window only for Adelric to shrink further into the shadows near by. "Will you ever let me see you, Ace."

"I don't want you to run. Everyone who knows about me and come into the butcher shop for some reason always ignores me, after awhile of greeting from the shadows with no responce I stopped making myself known to them. But you from the minute you walked into the shop and heard me whisper in Italian, you acknowledged me." He said coming close to her, yet still staying in the shadows of the night. "I guess, I came here tonight wanting to know why?"

"I can't see at least not very well without the help of glasses, but I have contacts that I wear when I am running around and have time to put them in. I would also like to see you, I will not run away promise."

"Are you wearing them now, for I don't see any glasses on your lovely face."

"No, I took them out about half an hour ago, I had them in when I was at work though," she leaned out the window while replying.

"Very well you can see me, but only if you don't have them in or your glasses on. Understood," he asked while inching out of the shadows more.

"I promise I can only hear better than I can see right now." Adelric came out of the shadows and stood about two feet from her.

"So that is how you heared what I said this morning."

"Yes, I did mio soldato," was all she said before reacting out to him.

Adelric pulled away from her touch, "I'm no soldier, mia colomba."

"You survived what ever happened to you all those years ago, so you are my soldato. Please don't think otherwise." It hurt Adelric some how to know that he was the cause of the hurt in her voice, for he only wanted to hear joy in her voice when she spoke to him.

"Oh Bella," came a voice from the street, causing Adelric to flee to the shadows.

"I should go, I'll see you tomorrow at the shop," he said turning away from her window to leave.

"Wait, Ace please come back tomorrow I liked talking to you, more than Colt or anyone else," Bella called right as Colt came into view.

"Ace? Now Bella my dear, you know I am not the ugly beast of a so called man," Colt said turning her attention from where Adelric was giving him a chance to leave unnoticed.

"Colt, please leave me alone. I keep telling you I don't want to marry you, why can't you understand that," came Bella's defeated response.

"Oh Bella, you just don't want to acknowledge that we are meant to be together," he said coming to the window.

"Good night, Colt, I have to be at work early tomorrow," and with that she shut her window, locking it in place and crawling into bed.
