My worst dreams came true the next morning. It was a dismal foggy day. Alex walked up to me.

"I'm breaking up with you," he said slowly, enunciating every letter.

I replayed the sentence in my head before I stuttered, "W-w-why?" but Alex was already halfway up the steps.

Tracey, who had been watching this scene from her car, rushed over to console me. She managed to reach me in time before I burst out crying. The only thing I wanted to know is why he had broken up with me.

About 2 weeks of moping had passed before I came up with a plan to get him back. I would make him jealous by dating another guy. I had already picked the perfect candidate, Andrew. He was in math class with Alex and I, and he was kind of cute. He had blonde highlights ripping through his dark brown hair. That day, in math class I asked him out, in front of Alex. As obvious as I made it seem, Alex didn't notice. He didn't even look up. I sent Andrew smiles all through math class, but Alex still didn't notice.

The next step was dates with Andrew. I didn't want to reach this stage, but I had to. We went to Alex's favorite restaurant and still didn't see him there. This jealous thing was hard.

The end of my plan was kissing Andrew in front of Alex. That was one of the meanest things I had ever done. If that didn't work, then I would give up and just accept life the way it was.

On the day of the staged kiss, Andrew was supposed to walk me to math class, and when I saw Alex I would kiss Andrew. Luckily, that never happened!

Once we reached math class, Alex asked my why I was hanging out with Andrew.
