For Now

"I want to kill him, so much!" Asano Gakushuu huffed as he walked beside Akabane Karma

"Then kill him." Karma smirked, placing his hands in his pockets as Asano glared at him.

"I won't soil my hands with his blood." Asano mumbled just before huffing once more.

"Well then if you won't kill your father, what do you want to do?" Karma asked as they reached their destination. Ever since high school, the two have formed a sort of secret friendship. Neither meant to keep it a secret, but neither wanted to have it just out in the open either. So they would message each other or sometimes call, and a few times a week, they would walk in the forests of the mountain of 3-E. At some point in their first year, Karma had shown Asano his cliff-spot and they both decided that that would be their spot from then on.

Their spot. 

The idea echoed in Karma's head as they took a seat on the branch that's sticking out of the cliff. It was silent. Asano was thinking of what Karma had just asked while Karma was wondering of other things, such as, will Asano one day love him back?

"He's not even the principal anymore and he still manages to control my life." Asano frowned, hands clutching tightly onto the branch in anger.

"You said it yourself though, there's nothing you can do until you've graduated." Karma looked over at Asano, worry clearly showing on his face. He knew how the younger one got whenever he was mad. He could-- would-- hurt someone. And as much as Karma was for violence, he didn't want to see the person he cared for do such things.

"It's frustrating! I want to have him chained up and be my pet." Asano's teeth gritted and Karma frowned. Slowly, Karma raised his arm and was about to reach for Asano's hand, but retreated and settled for his shoulder instead. Asano jumped a bit at the touch as he looked towards Karma.

"Shuu. Relax. It will be fine." Karma calmly stated, trying not to show too much of his worry.

"Tch." Asano looked away and bit his lip, but Karma knew it wasn't going to be that easy to calm down the always so stubborn strawberry blonde.

"He just sucks as a father... Why couldn't he have been normal?" Asano started shaking and continued "Why couldn't I have been normal?"

"Because you're too perfect for normal" Karma quickly interrupted before the tears fell from Asano's eyes. Karma knew of Asano's regrets, wishes, to have been able to change his past. Despite all the logic that they both knew well, where in their past made them who they are now, Asano would every once in a while voice out how he wished his past had been totally different. Free of fear, of abuse, of being alone.

Asano mumbled a light "tch." before a smile crawled on his lips. Karma smirked at the sight and nudged him a little.

"You know you like being called perfect. So smile already." Karma said as Asano sighed and smiled lightly

"There we go." Karma chuckled.

They were quiet once more, but this time there was less tension. Karma knew that Asano was still mad but that he had calmed down more. At that point, Karma was wondering whether he should tell Asano the truth, how he actually liked him.

'Would he get mad? Would he say sorry but he can't be with me? Would he say it's impossible? Would he laugh? Would he brush it off? Would it be awkward between us? Would we never be able to hang out like this again? Would he avoid me? Would he hate me?' All the questions flooded Karma's head as he groaned, placing his head in his hands.

"Something wrong?" Asano asked when he noticed

"N-No... just a head ache, I suppose." Karma mumbled, not wanting to tell the truth just yet.

"We should head back then. We'll stop by the infirmary for something for that headache." Asano stated

"Aaaww~ Are you worried for me, Shuu-chan~?" Karma teased as Asano scoffed and stood up.

"Not at all." Asano said as he reached a hand out to Karma.

Karma looked up and he swore that it was the most cliche and typical thing he saw. The guy he cares for, dare he say loves, had his hand out for him, the sun shining above him making him shine brighter than anything else he's ever seen. Karma smiled at the thought before taking his hand and standing up. They headed back to the main campus as Karma decided that he won't confess at the moment

'For now, I'll settle for being your friend'
