Chapter 4: Playing with fire. And also a dragon (It was a package deal)

            "So, if we're sleeping here at night, this dragon is probably going to kill us."

            "How do we deal with it though. It's the same size as a one ton truck. And judging from the smoke, we're probably going to get free fire thrown in as well."

            Leo picked up the scrap metal from the busted time machine and looked thoughtful.

           "Leo, are you gonna build some intricate machine that'll kill the dragon?" Reya asked.

           "Figuratively speaking."

           "What do you mean?"

           "Kill it with kindness. Or in this case, happiness."

           "What??"

           "Just throw metal chew toys at it till it loves us. We have about a 70% of death, 16% Chance that our heart stops beating, and 14% chance that out heads get ripped of. "

           " Isn't that like, 100% chance of-"

           "I'm joking, idiot. Just do it and if it doesn't work, we stab it with sharpened sticks."

           Reya rolled her eyes and grabbed a metal rod. "C'mon Jace. Leo, you go first." Leo gulped nervously and walked up to the majestic beast. The dragon snorted flames and its eyes narrowed, as if to say , "Show me what you got, puny human." Leo bowed down and threw the rod up for the dragon. The dragon grabbed the rod in its maw, then crushed it and spat it onto the floor, snorting out smoke and swiping his head to the right, as if he was asking Leo to take a hike. Reya went up next, and held it up, with a confident gaze in her eye. The dragon looked puzzled, then sat down. Reya started waling closer to the dragon, before throwing the rod at him and backing off slowly.

           There was a slightly disappointed look in his eye, lie he expected more. Finally, he looked expectantly at me. I felt a shiver go down my spine and a sudden burst of confidence. I walked up to the dragon, and pet his forehead. At that moment, I felt a spark go through my hand, and I passed the rod to the dragon, before petting him again.

           I felt a deep, majestic voice in my head, saying "Good job, 'Jace'. If you need me anytime, just call out. You are pure of heart, but there will be a time where you shall be tempted by evil. Remember your friends. Goodbye for now, human."

            Then I passed out, my head feeling like it was about to burst
